STUD or DUD: The FIRST Images Of The 2013 Honda Accord Sedan & Coupe Hit The 'Net - Are Its Updates Enough?
Honda's press release follows:

All-New 2013 Honda Accord Will Debut with Premium and Sophisticated Exterior Styling

The most sculpted Accord ever is bigger on the inside and smaller on the outside

TORRANCE, Calif., Aug. 8, 2012 – Honda today revealed the first images of the much anticipated all-new 2013 Honda Accord Sedan and Accord Coupe, set to go on sale this fall. The most sculpted Accord ever delivers an even more spacious and luxurious passenger cabin wrapped in an upscale, sophisticated exterior designed to stand the test of time.

The 2013 Accord's styling is expressive, sophisticated and premium. Starting in the front, a bold new grille imparts a distinctive and dynamic tension that complements the powerful look of the hood's multiple styling lines. A strong side character line flows through the door handles and flares upward toward the rear of the vehicle to further convey a sense of motion. A deep contour in the rocker panel firmly grounds its visual presence to the road and smartly turns upward to convey a sporty attitude. In the back, the inward slope where the fenders taper into the trunk and C-pillars is designed to convey a powerful, athletic stance from the rear.

True to the spirit of Honda and every Accord before it, the ninth-generation embraces a customer focus from the inside out. Smart interior packaging allows for increased passenger and cargo space in both the sedan and the coupe, while the overall exterior lengths are noticeably shortened, contributing to a sportier driving character and easier parking. An expansive greenhouse and generous rear seating area provide excellent levels of visibility and comfort for the driver and all passengers.

"This car is the most sculpted and the most dynamic Accord yet," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda. "Following Honda's long-held philosophy of 'man maximum, machine minimum,' the beautiful exterior evolved from a focus on interior space and the needs of the people inside it."

On the road, an overall aerodynamic shape combined with low-drag exterior surfaces including nearly flush windshield glass, flush-mounted windshield wipers and careful under-body tailoring promise enhanced fuel efficiency. Premium details like available LED daytime running lights, headlights and taillights hint at the sophisticated technology and luxury available inside.

More information about the all-new 2013 Accord will be revealed later this fall. For photos about the styling direction of the 2013 Accord, visit www.hondanews.com.

Is this a different design?

Back end and rear 3/4 view look just like the pre-2012 Hyundai Genesis. Even the most untrained eye can see that. Honda designers should be embarrassed for bringing something so unoriginal to market.

All the Japanese and Korean cars are now indistinguishable between themselves.
"Me too" lazy copy cat design work is evident and will cost lost sales and low buyer enthusiasm.

Wish they went more radical with the design. Nice but, ehhh, just nice

The sedan rear 3/4 view look just like the Hyundai Genesis like 280SE mention above and the Honda coupe rear look like the current Honda Civic.

And I love how the Honda coupe borrow that "check shape" for their front headlight from the current Lexus IS350 LED strips. Nothing special same old boring Honda again and they wonder why Kia and Hyundai is growing so fast? Sarcastic intended.

Toyota and Honda are probably out of money, this car is almost the same just a facelift of the back is just a Hyundai, the front they just play with the headlights and LED position, the interior several clues from C class Mercedes and S class.

Not ugly, but looks like a light refresh of the previous model rather than a "all new" redesign. They're going to run into sales problems with the market flooded with great looking cars from their competitors.

Not a Stud. Not a Dud. But a car to bring home to Mom...in other words, smart, sensible, reliable, family-oriented - marriage material...you know...a Honda Accord.

It looks so ... bland. Ford (Fusion), Nissan (Altima), and Mazda (6) aren't going to lose sleep over this "new" Honda Accord.

As with any Honda, the sedan isn't going to turn the design world upside down. It's a handsome car, unlike the current generation that is just gawky. The coupe looks good. Evolution is now the name of the game in the industry to be budget-friendly. Some of the top marques and models have been doing evolution for years/decades.

DUD DUD DUD! This is one ugly car. When comparing this to a 2012 Camry, 2013 Fusion, 2012 Sonata, or 2013 Malibu, it's the ugliest!

So outdated. Ugh, & I always defended Accord, and use to own one, heck who didn't.

I remember the good ol Honda days back into the 90's (even the 80's) the Accord was the best looking sedan around, what happen?

Looks like they did the same thing they did to the civic, a mild refresh. Disappointing considering the current and soon to be released offerings from the competition.

Too early to say, but so far, a bull's eye. Yes, the styling is a bit derivative of the previous one, but it is an improvement. If prices don't go up too much, they will sell in droves.
As usual, the Accord will be the leader in it's class. For any one or two features a competing model may have over the Accord, there are four that the Accord counters with.
Radical styling gets old faster. Ten years from now, the Accord will still be in style. It will be Sonatas, Fusions, Optimas, etc. that will look old and dated---hence the remarkable difference in desirability and resale value.
The last Accord to pass through my hands was a '96 that I bought new and drilled almost 200K miles into. Besides requiring nearly nothing in repairs for most of its 16 years, I still loved to drive it.
I sold it in one day for about double what a comparable Taurus or Altima may have been worth.

Appears to a Japanese version of the stereotypical German VW/Audi exterior.

Out of money!? Toyota and Honda are 2 of the top volume car makers in the industry and Honda throughout its entire history is the only automaker to NEVER take a loss. Out of money! hahah.
You will see - this will sell even better than the current model - which is doing ALMOST as good as the Camry or better, and it's the oldest car in its segment.30,000 ish units a month are sold - can't argue with that! I think Honda knows how to make a car that appeals to this kind of buyer.
On another note: Want a flashy car? You probably should look elsewhere - not sure the "midsize FAMILY sedan" category is for you. I love Honda but the Accord is never a car I would buy as a main vehicle - I'm 30 and have no kids. so I am not the demographic for this kind of car. I still like it for what it is, though. The Accord is always a quality product that has conservative styling but above average driving feel. What is so different? Honeslty. People need to stop whining and wait for the model to be actually released.
