New Audi SD5 TDI Will Clock 0-60 in Just 5.1 Seconds
The midsize crossover developed by Audi, the SQ5 TDI, can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds.

The Audi SQ5 TDI is actually the very first S model with a diesel engine and the midsize crossover has been officially presented to the public two months ago, during the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. But now the vehicle is back and the German based automaker is placing it into the spotlights one more time by announcing some interesting performance figures like the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time.

Great specs, but how many people are going to be willing to pay $60-70k for a fancy VW Tiguan?

Considering the two are unrelated people are paying exactly for what they are getting. As noted elsewhere the Porsche Macan is more closely related to this Q5 and the twin of the next Q5.

@ chewy

So, in your mind, the Toureg is "unrelated" when compared to the Cayenne, or as the Phaeton is/was to the A8?

The Cayenne and the Touareg are related and share the same platform. The Tiguan and the Q5 do not share the same platform at all which makes them unrelated. Case closed.

Shouldn't the headline be 62mph rather than 60 mph??? Which would make the vehicle a bit faster than 5.1 seconds...

"According to the German based automaker, the Audi SQ5 is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds and its two turbos aren’t just providing the proper operations but they play a huge role in making the 3.0 six-cylinder diesel engine’s total output, which goes all the way up to 313 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque, available between 1,450 and 2,800 rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission which is sending power to the Quattro all-wheel drive system. The Audi SQ5 can reach a top speed of 155 mph and it can return 39.2 mpg."

Not too shabby.

Incidentally:

100 kph = 62.137 mph

60 mph = 96.561 kph

Just wish we could get some of this diesel performance action over here. I'd go for the A6 TDI Avant. That VW Passat All-road variant would eat into Subaru's Outback lunch some (at the high-end, not the base). Even the GTD would be fun, but I really want a diesel AWD wagon. And adding some performance to a diesel doesn't break the bank at the pumps!
I don't need more torque than any Dodge Hemi ever produced (I believe this car beats the SRT-8 Hemi). Guess we just have to watch the fun on the other side of the pond from a great distance, as usual.
