PLEASE Tell Us WHY Honda Can Design GREAT Looking Interiors But Are SO Weak With Exterior Design?
The first photos of the 2013 Honda Accord are popping up all over the internet and it seems that Honda has done it again.

Now before we say WHAT they've done again let us clarify that we have nothing against Honda/Acura but over the past 5 years we have been VERY critical over what's been going on there.

NOT because we're haters but because we LIKE them and are trying to get them to WAKE UP before it's too late.

Basically, we've been EXTREMELY disappointed with their products (mostly from the exterior design perspective) and the direction of where its taken them.

DOWN, DOWN, DOWN.

But in the midst of these 'beaks', bland/unemotional exteriors and sheer boredom Honda/Acura consistently has very well done interior designs and capabilities.

And this 2013 Accord is no exception. Photos Here....

The exterior design is not only .00001% LESS ugly than the new Camry but it seems they are COPYING the Hyundai Genesis in the rear taillight area.

WTF?

Have their designers NOT seen the Kia Optima or new Ford Fusion?

If it was your company with a reputation like theirs wouldn't you WANT to make something NICER looking?

We here at AutoSpies.com just don't get it.

Because when we see the inside shots we're very impressed.

It has a REALLY nice interior.

So our question to you is WHY can't they get their exterior designs in order?

And oh, by the way, do you all see a lot of Mercedes tribute in this new Accord interior like I do?

Agent 001 - I don't know what you are smokng but you better stop. The inside of the Accords last two model changes has been totally UGLY. Too much plastic and too many dang buttons everywhere. Good gosh - it looks like crap inside one of the current Accords. You must not have sat inside an Audi, BMW or even the American made interiors lately. Even Ford Motor's new 2013 Fusion (a competitor of the Accord) has already said their new interior will be upgraded signficantly with premium materials. I've owned three previous Accords with my last in 2000. The current model needs interior upgrades in the materials.

Well, to clarify I meant Acura interiors are nice and since they ARE Honda it means they have the people who can do it.

But the spyshot shows they have stepped up the game on the 2013 Accord.

Wow, I think the most recent interiors, especially in the Civic have been far worse than the exterior. The interior of the Civic is like a cheap plastic toy with vents strewn willy nilly and the digital dash looking like a crazy afterthought. Honda has a history of outstanding interiors but the most recent work has been a huge letdown. Have their designers been hired away by Hyundai or Ford?

Honda has no nice cars, not inside nor out.

I kinda have to agree. I love Honda. I've had 11 or 12 Hondas. They still build a good car. They are just not cutting edge anymore.
I'm waiting to see what the new Accord will actually be like. I would like to see it get slightly smaller. I have an '06. It's as big as it needs to be.
I am not enthused over CVT's, so that has me worried. They better get that right. Fuel economy has to improve without a compromise in power. Hopefully direct injection/Atkinson cycle technology helps here.
I'm glad that it is not going to look like a Sonata. The Sonata is attractive, but I think it is attractive for someone else. I rather have the more sedate, but tasteful look that has been an Accord tradition.
They need to put better feel back into the steering. The last two gen Accords have lost in that department.
And yes, get back to the higher quality materials in the interior. Keep it simple. Less buttons and switches and no gimmicks. My '06 has a couple of little buzzes or rattles on the inside. My early Accords never had that.
Dump the DRL's. They suck. L.E.D.'s in the rear, HID's up front.

Why do you think Honda has such great interiors? Nope, they don't.

The Japanese are a most honorable people but historically speaking, they lack creativity and originality. They take existing designs and interpret them as opposed to creating original fresh ideas and designs.
