GM CEO Tells Employees To Play By The Rules Or Go Elsewhere
General Motors Co. chairman and CEO Dan Akerson told employees during a town hall meeting Thursday that GM employees will be asked to sign a document called "Winning With Integrity."

"It's unfortunate when those among us don't live up to those standards," Akerson said during the meeting and conference call; The Detroit News was given access to a recording of the call. Akerson's remarks came within two weeks of the dismissal of two high-profile executives at the automaker

He noted that GM has 200,000 employees. "If you don't want to play by the rules, then you ought to work somewhere else," Akerson said. "We have the right to expect that people will behave with integrity. And when they don't, we can't tolerate it, and we won't."

Does pot-smoking breaks for union workers, and visiting the booze store while clocked in for union leaders (all recorded by TV camera crews) qualify as "winning with integrity", or will that become a thing of the past?

Is that Dan Akerson CEO making those comments or is it Dan Akroyd?
Mr. Akerson is speaking of INTEGRITY, and I am questioning what integrity was utilized when severing Canadian dealers with an email, notifying each dealer that after all the years of dedicated service and investment to General Motors - they were simply no longer needed. That's integrity?

Integrity works both ways. CEO Dan Akerson has to make it part of GM's coorperate culture - right now he's just swinging an axe and threatening employees with loss of their jobs. There's more to developing trust than fear.
