Why Can't Ford Sell Hybrids?

Ford has solid hybrid technology that's layered on top of popular vehicles, yet they seem unable to sell hybrids with any sort of success. Why is that?

HybridCars.com reports that Ford has only sold 6,100 Fusion hybrids so far in 2012, a far cry from the 140,000 Prius hybrids sold so far this year by Toyota.

So why is Ford so bad at selling hybrids? The short answer is that they don't have a great brand name as far as hybrids are concerned.

Short answer:

Why buy a Fusion Hybrid when you can buy a Camry Hybrid or an Altima Hybrid?

Also, how many people realize that Ford makes a Hybrid. The Fusion Hybrid commercials are not memorable.

Option B:

Ford has not had a dearth of new models in the showroom. So, to many consumers, if I'm not in the market for a Mustang, Focus or F150, why would I take a step into a Ford Dealership.
