The Sonata's design was already old when it came out, so it couldn't look much more boring.
I see less of them each day, its as though people are trading them in for Camrys that they were intending to buy the year earlier before the quake.

They increased their market share with the more flamboyant looks that attracted a lot of first time buyers. They established themselves as a major player in the North American market. Now they are going to tone it down and work on poaching Accord and Camry customers.

Even though I don't like Hyundai because of their past, I have to agree with Play that they are the best looking midsize car out there. That alone let a lot of customers buy their cars. Now reliability is another issue that only time will prove.

Lots of car companies had that swoopy design and side flanks before Hyundai. Americans are only excited because they slapped on a dirty cheap price for us because they know very well our loyalty can be bought...cheap.

VW/Audi had that profile. Chrysler had that profiel back in the 90s. MB used that profile on the CLS. Mazda used it. Hyundai used it but at half the price. Cha-ching!
