Audi has an "RS" model assault planned on the market... Will all their hopeful models become a reality in the U.S?

Having just unleashed the M3 straight-line and Nurburgring killing RS4, Audi is in the process of launching an RS model assault on the market.

As we all know Audi's RS division is the highest level of performance from the Audi's Quattro GmBH subsidiary. These cars are not to be taken lightly as they pack enough goods and carry a price tag to the point where they can make BMW's appear cheap in price and also slow.

Audi has planned the following RS models: RS3, RS4 (currently out) RS5, RS6, TTRS and R8 (also built by Quattro GmBH).

The previous RS6 was a faster accelerating car than the E39 M5. The RS4 is a faster accelerating car than the BMW M3.

If the RS4 is any indication, Audi will be a MAJOR force in the high performance arena.

I know this is a HUGE threat to BMW's M division because the Audi RS division has clearly stepped up their game.

We BMW supporters can no longer be confident in the fact that BMW will be the leader of sport sedans.

Which one of these Audis will come to the market. If we have it our way hopefully not many....

The answer to your question is neither of the above.

I am wise beyond my years in reference to the auto enthusiast community

The Audi RS4 is faster than the M3 from 0-60 mph, 50-100 mphs or any other increments that you want to use.

From a stand still 0-60 the RS4 is faster. From a rolling start the RS4 is also faster as well as in the 1/4 mile.

The M3 does not win a single acceleration test against the Audi RS4.

It's fun seeing people get excited about the Audi RS line. Let's pay $70k for a car!

Hey, if you have the money, why not, they are excellent cars. And those that doubt that the RS4 demolished the M3 read this. The Audi spec 4.8 0-60 is very conservative, the real time is 4.3. Here is proof.

As you can see that is a BMW fan forum.

After reading that thread, it's obvious that the RS4 is the faster car. The only thing the BMW fans can say is "well, the M3 is more fun to drive". That doesn't address the fact that the RS4 destroys the M3 in a drag race and on the track. The guy in the RS4 wasn't even trying in some of the races.

I am about 95 % sure the RS3 won't come to the US, 100% chance that the R8 will come here, the RS6 will probably come but in several years, same with the RS5. A higher performance Audi TT with about 350 hp should also come sometime.

Your exactly correct, the BRAND NEW RS4 will crush the OLD e46 m3. You guys are new model ahead of us. Once the new M3 comes out, i highly doubt you will be able to say the RS4 crushes, or even beats the M3.

GermanNutGermanNut - 7/28/2006 9:03:27 PM

Well if the new M3 can't beat a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds and a quarter mile in 11.3 it will in fact be slower than the Audi RS4.

I desperately want the BMW M# to be faster than the Audi RS4. I'm switching to the BMW side (I currently drive an A4) and even I will admit as will all M# owners that Audi has clearly set the bar a lot higher and in order to remain the leader of the pack, the M3 will indeed have to be one absolutely mind blowingly good car.

Jeremy Clarkson said the same thing during the episode when he test drove the RS4.

The E90 BMW M3 will have to come with a moon indeed...

Quarter mile of 12.8 seconds, sorry for the typo. If it was a 1/4 of 11.3 Audi would be running right alongside the Carrera GT.

The RS4 is at least 1/2 second quicker than the CTS-V. As 325baller said correctly, the RS4 does demolish the current M3, the next M3 will be equal if not slightly faster than the RS4. It is a cycle, that will repeat.

You that one guy that argued before. MT recently did a test between the RS4 and the CTS-V, the RS4 was about .5 second quicker IRC. It is over. The RS4 is quicker, don't give me those inflated Cadillac times. It was one on one comparison. The RS4 was quicker. That is it.

Go read a copy of MOTOR TREND, (American magazine) you will see that the RS4 was quicker. That will solve everything.

Guys, here's the deal. Audi RS4 is a badass, no question.

But come on. Can Audi put a weeee bit of that MOJO into their freaking A4?

So far, nein.

Wake me when Audi shows they can put power into their attainable cars (like arch-nemesis BMW does.)

So far, you have to donate organs to get Audi power. I'm not impressed by that.

BMW usually offers the least power. The 5 series came with 185 hp engine not long ago. The base 5 series offers 40 less hp than the base A6.

rs4 was made to own the m3 and it does and i really doubt the new m3 will be able to beat it
now heres where we get into the debate put an rs4 against and m5 and its a different story..
rs4 should beat it but it wasnt made to.. thats where the rs6 steps in.. guys go check it out theyre sticking a v10 and the legendary m5 should have some competition. the rs4 just own any m3 no debate.. i just want to know about the rs6 vs. the m5.
audi have raised the bar tremendously and i think the bmw are losing their edge!
bm's already have a highly respected status and stuill have it but if their not carefull the new kid on the block the rs* is wipeing the florr with em at the moment..
what do u rekon will be quicker the m5 or the rs6 (the new rs6 im talkin about and i dont no much about if bmw are makeing a new m5)

GermanNutGermanNut - 7/29/2006 7:54:03 PM

BMW owners can say what they want. Yes, the M3 is a MORE FUN car to drive. On the other hand, there is absolutely no denying the fact that the RS4 can kill and I mean kill an M3 in a straight-line test from 0-60, 50-100, 1/4 mile or even from a rolling start.

I will be going to BMW for my own valid reasons. I currently drive an Audi A4.

I reckon the new RS6 will be quite a bit faster than the E60 M5.

Just look at the historical pattern. When the previous RS6 was launched it defeated the BMW M5 in a straight-line.

How can you not believe a magazine that tested the two cars on the same day, in the same conditions, most likely with the same driver, and in the end the RS4 was about half a second quicker. That is the end of my argument.

You are like a gaybasher that is waiting to come out of the closet. Come out and you will feel better. Lance Bass did it and he feels better.

I am confused? I live in South Africa and commute to the uk quite often. In these countries we have the M3, M3 CS and teh M3 CSL available. The S4 similar in price to the M3 and the M3CS to the RS4, they also compare better performance wise. Autocar recently tested the RS4 and the M3CS (Not the CSL), The M3CS was voted the winner.
Are these vehicles not available in the US, and if so why not. You are missing out on the finest examples!!

Audi's RS4 has succeeded in pushing the M3 to the corner and thats why BMW has got no choice but to go back to TC to look for solution.

Personally, I wont be surprise that BMW will one day start offering AWD system for their M cars.
