Number 1 In August: Is Lexus Becoming The Driving Force Again In US Luxury Car Sales?
Lexus, which lost its crown as the top-selling luxury auto brand in the U.S. last year, increased sales 34 percent last month to push past Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

It's the first time Toyota's luxury brand beat both of its German competitors to be No. 1 in monthly sales since December 2010 before inventory was hurt by last year's natural disasters in Asia. Lexus sold 24,237 vehicles in August, the company said in a statement.

they all do deals. it's product that is driving sales now. Lexus has revamped 3 key models (ES, GS and refreshed RX), and sales are now paying off. Sad day here at Germanspies!!!

There wasn't that much money used in incentives...Only the 12 es and that was 1000.00 rebate. BMW and Mercedes spends way more money.....

During the summer, car makers run super discount sales and rebates. Looks like Lexless ran the biggest discounts which account for their sales blip.

Please, like none of the other manufacturers have lease deals.

Still a lame brand.

So you're admitting that Lexus is a lame brand. But rather than defend lameness you bring up mistu. Nice.

And you're still failing to realizie that America isn't the only place on the planet. Mitsu is doing fine. They've been profitable from 2007 onwards. Why do you do that? Why do you ignore the rest of the planet?

Let me get this straight. You said that Mistu is almost dead, while at the same time you post an article that shows that they've been turning a profit. Are they dead? Go ahead contradict yourself some more.

Here’s a quote from the article you posted. Keep in mind that you said that they were almost dead.

“Mitsubishi Motors reported a net profit of 10.6 billion yen (US$139 million) for the April-September period, the first black ink in three years for a first half and a turnaround from the year-before loss of 4.9 billion yen.

Operating profit soared five-fold to 34.2 billion yen from 6.9 billion yen a year before, scoring the highest figure in more than a decade, said the maker of the i-MiEV, the world's first commercially produced electric car.”

Here's another Gem from Wiki: But all of this doesn't matter because these numbers aren't all from the U.S? Right. The U.S is all that matters? right?

"Operating profit soared five-fold to 34.2 billion yen from 6.9 billion yen a year before, scoring the highest figure in more than a decade, said the maker of the i-MiEV, the world's first commercially produced electric car."

More:

"Mitsubishi reported its first profitable quarter in four years in the third quarter of 2006,[39] and returned to profitability by the end of the 2006 financial year, and sustained profitability and global sales of 1,524,000 through 2007 and later"

Mitsubishi sucks. I know that. They make one good car. I guess you're expecting me to get all defensive about that. You must be confusing me with your fellow ToyotaBots. I’m no fanboy. Mitsubishi sucks but my car doesn’t. I’m not going to defend lameness like the lexus fans do here. Nice try.

yes, the leading maker of fancy camrys (or avalons. or corrollas. note that the ES accounted for the vast majority of gains this month.

is anyone really excited about that car? talk about underwhelming.

Exactly!!! BMW might as well not even make vehicles anymore. The Lexus GS and ES are so much nicer. Why would anyone even pick the BMWs? Must be fools.

Which part of the term "Outside the U.S" don't you understand? Outside the U.S means "OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA". Yet you bring up world-wide numbers into the discussion. Where do you think they would rank if you subtracted the U.S sales numbers? I'll bet the farm that it wouldn't be 4th.

Nothing much changed in Lexus' sales with the exception of the ES, which jumped 94% from last year. Did Lexus give them away to make way for the new models?
