2013 Volkswagen Golf officially unveiled
Volkswagen has officially unveiled the 2013 Golf at the New National Gallery in Berlin, Germany.

Looking rather conservative, the model adopts an evolutionary design that emphases strong character lines and taut surfaces. Overall, the car measures 4,255mm long, 1,799mm wide and 1,452mm tall. This means the model is 56mm longer, 13mm wider and 28mm lower than its predecessor.

The exterior styling won't win everyone over, but the interior is leaps and bounds ahead of its predecessor. Three different trim levels will be available and even the entry-level Trendline features air conditioning, metallic accents, power windows / locks, a folding rear seat and 15-inch wheels.

Current Golf looks good, and I wouldn't mind a evolutionary direction, but this is homogenizing. They softened the lines to the point that it is more generic.
VW continues to move away from being distinctive to attract the mainstream, and I find that sad.

Not feeling this... Definitely like the design of the MkVI better, though there won't really be a choice soon. I hope the GTI will look much better...

13mm wider... OMG that rear is now ginormous!!! ;)

Are they sure it is not 10mm or 15mm? Cause you know three millimeters here and two millimeters there and pretty soon you are having a really BIG car. ;)

IrishMike is right, this new Golf is sad indeed.

Looking forward to the new, lighter GTI with 260HP. GTD would be even better.

They've taken all of the joy away from it. Compare it to Mk5, the Rabbit for example.
