VIDEO: The Latest Vid Captures Some AMAZING Sounds From The Next-Gen BMW M3
Although I know tons of folks adore the current-gen BMW M3 with its burly V8, to me, it's just not doing the trick for me. Now, I am putting my flame suit on.

One of my favorite things I found while driving the BMW 1M was its brilliant sound from the motor as well as its exhaust. That was a properly done BMW. With its inline six at wide-open throttle, it remind me a lot of a 997 Carrera S with the optional sport exhaust.

When I was testing the vehicle, my passenger was an industry-known Porschephile. When I mentioned "Hey, this sounds a bit like a C2S, no" he quickly said "Absolutely, it's great!"

My point about this little anecdote is that we all know the next-gen M3 will be equipped with a six-cylinder motor. But how will it sound, exactly? After listening to this clip, I think it's headed in the same direction as the 1M with a much more Porschelike sound.

To this guy, it really doesn't get much better than that.

The next BMW M3 will be turbocharged, and now you can hear it pop, bellow and bang its way around the Nürburgring in the video below. It would seem that BMW have taken criticism of the dull-sounding F10-model M5 and M6 to heart.

Based on the new F30 chassis, the next-generation M3 drops the big V8 motor for a smaller capacity straight-six. After the in-line six success of the E36 and E46 M3s, that alone is great news for the BMW M purists. The addition of a turbocharger may not be.

From the video it sounded really good. I'm excited to see what the next production BMW M3 sound like, it spec and comparison. Look like BMW has another winner here. Lexus and Infiniti I'm hoping you two are watching this video as you planning to make your next compact sports coupe and sedan.

Different strokes for different folks.

As I say above, I think the current V8 was a terrible move for BMW.

Agent00R: I agree with you ..smaller displacement than the 6.2 AMG and weak in power and torque and even heavier than the 6.2 on AMG (but for 2 or 3 Kgs)......But Still it is music to my ears and just for the sound, I would buy one....

I'll give you that. It does sound pretty badass especially paired with, say, an Akropovic exhaust.

But I LOVE my sixes!

It appears to handle the corner very well with virtually no body roll, and sounds good IMO..Im really looking forward to the debut.

Is that sound pumped through speakers like the new M5 or does it really come from the exhaust?
Doesn't sound bad but nothing like my current V8.
My version has 24k miles and its worth around $40k (vert d/c).
So should I dump mine, spend an extra $50k after tax for this?
That'd be $1000 for every extra horsepower. I think I'm good.
Besides if I wanted a 3 series the size of a 5 I would have just bought the last gen 5.

If you want your car to sound more 911 6 cyl like then great.
If you want your car to sound more Ferrari V8 like then keep the old gen.

V8 M3 sounds better, while the previous inline-6 M3 sounded better than both.

i liked my e46 more than my current e93.. definitely looking forward to the new i6. more power and more torque ( better potential with tuning turbo as well)
yes v8's are nice in light weight cars like the 458 italia, with the weight of this car it felt like it needed a v10.
