Ford Unveils The Mondeo Liftback For The European Market - Is This The Poor Man's Audi A7?

It was only last year that we awarded our special design award to the 2012 Audi A7. There's just something about those unique "checkmark" LEDs and the way Audi made it all come together at the vehicle's hindquarters that other folks couldn't execute.

I am looking at you BMW and Porsche.

But it looks like there is another young stallion in town. That, my friends, would be the all-new Ford Mondeo liftback, which premiered this week in Holland.

And it looks good. Damn good.

This brings up a couple of points, namely:

1) Is this now the poor man's Audi A7 for the European market? Ford was pleased to announce it will have full LED headlights...

2) If Toyota brings that Avalon concept to life, will Ford actually bring the liftback to the States? And, if it does, WHICH would YOU opt for if you had to make the decision and you had to put down the greenbacks?

What are you are you talking the LED check mark on the Lexus IS250/350 look just as good. And yes this Ford Modeo does look good.

Lexus does not execute as well. I think it is the IS or CT that has a gap in the LED string for the projector lense of the main headlight. Makes the LEDs look like an after thought.

The beltline on an A7 is lower so it lends to a much sexier appearance. This one is nice, albeit, bland at the same time. And isn't the new Avalon going to look just like this?

I'd say its the perfect car for someone who wants a good looking Ford. Doubt they're even thinking about Audi/VW.

2013 Avalon, Honda Crosstour, Chevy Impala, Dodge Dart, 2013 Altima, 2013 Sentra, Infinti M, 2011 Volvoo concept, VW Passat, A7. But Hughjass says they ain't thinking of Audi.

Oh Buick has a C segment car also having that same greenhouse. There is going to be a hell of a LOT of A7 wannbes on the road in 6 months to a year. But only the Koreans copy. If it was a Kia that's what would have been said. For example, the reason why the Mazda 5 and Nissan Quest can get away from copying the tail lights is because it ain't Korean.

Then buy a Honda. They are boring and don't have aggressive grills. Personally I think the Ford looks great!! Best Audi A7 out of the other 12 copycat greenhouses I listed. And Dodge has the nerve to say on it's commercials the Dart is Orignal? Ignroing that the face ripped off the Tundra, Lancer, Vw Iroc and the Chevy Sonic's. Becuase you and Honda have no style. Honda and you play it too safe. the 2013 Accord PHEV front bumper ripped off the 2008 Genesis concept's front bumper. Do I have to go what car the Accord exterior copied off of? I'm jtz. Who wants to challenge me? Buick Regal and Volvoo S60 hint greenhouses.

Big deal there are a lot of cars I listed with those A7 greenhouses. Just because the ford was revealed before the Avalon doens't make the car special.
