Audi S3 To Be Unveiled This Week?

A person with inside knowledge at Carscoop claims that the new Audi S3 will be unveiled in the middle of this week, with the official debut at the Paris Auto Show. The car will come with a 260 horsepower version of the award-winning 2.0 TFSI engine. This extra power will be able to propel the S3 from 0 to 62 mph in only 5.7 seconds. The car is set to sell in Europe in December and in the U.S. in early 2007. Previous reports said that the S3 would not come here.

That website looks nice, take a look at the CLS hearse.

Also, the German Audi website lists a time of 6.3 seconds for the A3 sportback with the 3.2 lite engine. Car & Driver got a time of 5.8 seconds for it.

So, 6.3-5.7=.6. 5.8-.6=5.2 Maybe it won't be that fast, but it will be quicker than 5.5 seocnds for 0-60.

I'm not liking the front body kit, the underside that is. The air inlets are shaped too irregular and look kind of out of place - just because of the design.

I think I prefer the front styling of the regular A3.

The A3, 3.2, S-Line is the better looker and is more understated. Plus the performance is so close to that of the S3 that IMO more peole will continue to buy the 3.2.
Now i have been told that the handling of the S3 will be way better because of the much smaller engine mass and it will probably have marginally better fuel economy.

Well, the sportback does look better overall than the 3 door version. Also, it is unlikely that the S3 will come here with the 3 doors, maybe as sportback, but that is also not extremely likely.
