PARIS MOTOR SHOW-If The Next Lexus IS Looks Like THIS, Do They FINALLY Have The BMW 3-Series BEATER?
Lexus lit the net on fire in the early morning hours when it pre-launched the LF-CC concept car over a week before the opening of the Paris Motor show official debut.

And it is a REAL beauty!

Today, I got a phone call from a good friend in Japan who told me he knows FOR SURE that this is pretty much what the the next IS-series will look like.

Coupe, convertible and just add two more doors and you have the sedan.

Which by the way will look more coupe-like than sedan. Think baby Gran Coupe.

Needless to say after that conversation the Spies were stoked.

We have always thought that Lexus had the BEST chance of dethroning the BMW 3-Series if it was done right.

And don't get us wrong, the current one is a nice car but NOTHING like this.

This is a whole new level of good for them.

TRULY, world class.

So our question today is that if this information is correct (this source has been very accurate in the past) does Lexus has its first legitimate chance of finally building the BMW 3-Series BEATER?

Spies, discuss...

The front looks like a giant vacuum or a huge gaping mouth. Beyond that though there are a number of styling cues that I can see Lexus taking and toning down that can make for a very beautiful car. I wonder though if it'll look for like the FR-S than anything else.

I would say the biggest thing lacking in their lineup is a strong performance (non-V8) motor that is still efficient like the turbo 6cyl that BMW offers. Styling wise, I love the direction they are headed... This will certainly catch the eye of BMW drivers IMO

Anyway you look at it Lexus is bent on responding to the desires and needs of it's loyal customers and new comers. Yeah I think they'll end up with a pretty serious line up when it's all said and done. Hot looking ride though!

The ads embedded in EACH picture is annoying.

Having them in EVERY picture is extremely annoying. Often they are blocking critical areas of the photo, and you are forced to close the popup. I would have no problem with them on just the bottom picture, but being every one is making think of moving to other web sites. Yes, they are that annoying.

In my opinion the currently Lexus IS250/350 has always look better than the BMW 3-Series both interior and interior design. The BMW beat it in the performance and fun factor department. Hopefully, this new Lexus IS250/350 will change that soon.

correction,

I mean both interior and exterior design.

Physicial appearance will always be subjective. For me, I have no love for that front view, particularly the grille. I realize "concepts" often go for extreme looks. This one just doesn't do it for me.

The design has lots of potential. However, it's going to take a lot more than style to beat the 3-Series.

yes, as with the current car, lots of women will love it.

@cidflekken,

funny because I see more secretary and hairstylist driving the BMW 3-Series, Audi A4, MB C-Class than I see them drive a Lexus IS250/350.

According to http://blog.truecar.com/2012/04/23/men-prefer-flashy-or-brawny-vehicles-women-prefer-import-brands-and-smaller-vehicles-according-to-truecar-com-study/, you are correct. Lexus does not make the top 20 for men, but it makes the top 10 for women. BMW does not make the top 20 for women.

Interestingly, on this specific car, the female demographic is at 51.8%, which is tied withe the Toyota Corolla. In other words, when it comes to cars and women, the IS is one of their favorite choices.

I like the styling, looks unique and very crisp. Very good chance to de-throne 3 Series in styling department which looks like an update of the 2006 styling. Also considering GS F-sport is the best handling car in it's class so new IS is going to be even sharper due to smaller size and weight. Give it good engines Toyota and you have a great package which will fight for Number 1 position.

@JUGNU

I agree with you except on the engine part, toyota needs new engines fast because! They need to get back on the turbo game because the GR series cant touch the 1JZ or 2!

Probably not but its a damn good try and its nice to see an Asian car that isn't just a cheap knockoff.

It looks like a BMW from the side. But the front looks like a Ceylon from Battlestar Galatica!
