The bike's inventor/designer, Kiwi Ken Brough, reckoned that: "It was never really designed but more just "built as I went" based on a general concept that I had in my head, even when I started I could not have told anyone that it was going to look like it does today."

He begged, bought and borrowed parts from friends and others and eventually came up with this 530kg machine. It could have weighed less: "I just built it with the thought in the back of my mind that is was going to be my ass on the seat, in fact the whole thing is well over-engineered and it wouldn't have been hard to reduce the overall weight by 40-50kg", said Brough.
