Honda Cashes In The Chips And Confirms S2000 Successor
In a speech addressing his company’s future plans, Honda CEO Takanobu Ito has confirmed development of a new open-top sports car. Ito said the new model will have a focus on “strong vehicles dynamics” and that it will go on sale in Japan in 2014.

There have been rumblings that Honda was planning a new sports car, including a report that a successor to the S2000 was being looked at. However, it is a comment made by Ito stating that the new sports car will be one of six new “mini-vehicle” models that are leading us to believe it will more likely be a production version of 2011’s EV-STER concept

Why? You don't like the "steering wheel" much? :)
I think I'll wait for the hoover conversion... ;)

but agreed, it cannot look like that pic, not if it's a true S2000 successor. If it's some hybrid-like thingie, then fine, but it's not a true S2000 successor.

The S2000 needs to be great. Honda needs to get its mojo back that it lost when the S2000 and NSX disappeared. Would love to see an Acura version that kicks the tail of the Boxster.

the S3000 picture floating around should be a good idea for this S2000 successor.

I refuse to get excited over any Honda concepts or promises, as they so frequently miss the mark lately... Doubt it will be what the market needs or wants.

Since it is so hard to make any real profits on sports cars these days, why don't manufacturers offer a stretched 4 seat 2dr sedan(ala bmw 2002)version off of the same platform/engineering? Kinda like a more practical Subaru BRZ. It would help amortize the investment.

Why can't you guys read? This is not the new S2000, if anything it will be the new mini-class sized, mid-engined, ev Beat replacement (think: mini NSX).
