The German based automaker Audi has announced its plans to develop an electric bi-turbo diesel engine which should offer high-performance under the hood of the company’s future models.

Going “green” and downsizing seems to be the key to everything these days in the automotive industry and since Audi is being run by Volkswagen, the brand is getting ready to take on a new challenge, which is the development of an electric bi-turbo diesel engine. The announcement has been made by Audi and the new system will use a gas-driven turbocharger, along with an electrically-driven compressor.

VAG has some really neat things in the works. Many of them are a real tease others may be considered a distraction. At least with their deep pockets VAG is doing the research and innovation that we really need.
