Nissan Struggling To Find Buyers For Leaf Electric Car
Nissan Motor Co. is "falling short" of meeting its goal of selling 20,000 electric Leafs in 2012 in the United States, a senior executive told reporters Tuesday.

Andy Palmer, Nissan's executive vice president of product planning, said the Japanese automaker is not giving up on its plan to double electric vehicle sales but that sales are not meeting expectations.

"We don't plan on the moment of changing the projection," he told reporters in a roundtable discussion Tuesday. "We're a little disappointed. … The uptake isn't as strong as we first hoped."

Nissan had a great selling month of September with 984 Leafs sold, a 43% increase.
With the Smyrna, TN plant coming online making batteries and assembling the 2013 Leaf, things are looking good for Nissan.
