Edmunds Inside Line Rates the 2013 BMW M5 as Underwhelming and Disappointing - Do YOU Agree?
Underwhelming. The 2013 BMW M5 is underwhelming.

We're shocked. No, we're disappointed. Is this really an M5 we don't love? An M5 we wouldn't sell our kids in order to buy? An M5 we don't just want to drive all day to go nowhere?

It is. It absolutely is.

Honestly, we never thought this day would come. We never thought there'd ever be an M5 we wouldn't kill to own. But here we are, behind the wheel of the all-new turbocharged 560-horsepower M5, undeniably one of the world's fastest and most capable sedans, and we are underwhelmed.

Autospies are PATHETIC LIARS. Whoever posted this changed my original submission to make the article seem pro-BMW.

I DID NOT POST THIS HEADLINE AS A QUESTION YET THERE IS A QUESTION MARK AT THE END IMPLYING UNCERTAINTY.

In case anyone was actually uncertain if the 2013 BMW M5 is underwhelming and dissapointing, these quote should sum it up for you:

"Underwhelming. The 2013 BMW M5 is underwhelming."

"But here we are, behind the wheel of the all-new turbocharged 560-horsepower M5, undeniably one of the world's fastest and most capable sedans, and we are underwhelmed."

"But it basically comes down to this: Somehow the white coats in Munich made the 2013 BMW M5 more powerful and quicker and they've given it more grip, but they forgot something — the emotion. Where's the excitement? Where's the visceral thrill? Where's the M5's sinister evil twin?

Oh, that's right, it's down the street at the Cadillac dealer. It's called the CTS-V."

Autospies, you are clearly getting paid-off by BMW, but it doesn't matter because BMW is rapidly losing its way as the Ultimate Driving Machine and your sad attempt to try and manipulate article to appear pro-BMW isn't going to change that fact.

Interesting. The only thing added is "Rates" and a question mark at the end.

The pic was also changed to a press shot.

Not really seeing the headline as pro BMW either.

This clearly answers Autospies', rigged and pro-BMW headline QUESTION.

Germannut is obviously a troll. Only posting tests where Audis win, and digging up negative reviews on any brand that competes with Audi... Insecure much? Amazingbimmer was banned, and was no worse yet Germannut is still here, and allowed to post his anti-BMW, and pro Audi garbage.

cidflekken - Actually it is the opposite. A pretty good mix of article come from GermanNut. Still not seeing how the headline is pro BMW though.

LOL I was wondering why there was a question mark at the end of this headline.

most of the automotive mags love the M5.. so why did Insideline break ranks with the mainstream?

Agent009, a question mark implies uncertainty with the contents of the article.

The article starts by saying, "Underwhelming. The 2013 BMW M5 is underwhelming. We're shocked. No, we're disappointed..."

There clearly is no uncertainty that the 2013 BMW M5 is underwhelming and disappointing based on the above quotes, which are the first lines of the article.

However, WHEN YOU CHANGE the headline to "Edmunds Insideline Rates The 2013 BMW M5 as Underwhelming and Disappointing?" you are IMPLYING a level of uncertainty with the article's contents.

The PROBLEM is there CLEARLY IS NO UNCERTAINTY WHATSOEVER IN THE ARTICLE and therefore the question mark should NOT be there.

The headline is now pro-BMW because it implies the 2013 BMW M5 MAY NOT BE UNDERWHELMING AND DISAPPOINTING. That is clearly WRONG.

If you don't understand how punctuation can change the tone of an article, you should not be a journalist plain and simple.

Well few days ago I submitted a post about Faulty Oil Pumps in the M5 and M6 and Instructions from manufacturer : Do Not Drive your M5 or M6 cause possible big damage on the engines for faulty oil pumps.. Why you did not put that if all other websites did ?...BMWSPIES?..

Not everything submitted gets posted. My contact at one of the largest BMW dealerships in the country indicated a handful of examples might be affected nationwide. They has zero on the lot to stop sale on.

Actually the total count was 696 in the nation. More than originally indicated, but not an overly huge amount.

That's not a huge amount 009? When viewed as a ratio of the total sales/availability of the M5 and M6, that is absolutely a significant amount.

Ok , then lets suppose the 696 is too small number for (100,000.00$ car)
Why to publish if a Audi have one R8 on fire ? or MB one customer demand MB for one engine issue....(...)...come on. I I do not hate BMW but I like to be honest. I am an MB fan, is my favorite...But now according with MY tastes ...M5 is my favorite Sport Saloon...i do not care about what the magazines say but to publish all the view point (no biased)..is a most if you want to have a good website. In that case you can have favorites but you have to be neutral cause in that way you wont lead the perceptions of anybody toward any brand...Unless BMW or Germans are paying you, and I say that cause i feel that most of the times you are biased against anything not german or from BMW. I like this site but you can do it a lot better. BTW...ATS looks a lot better than the 3 series for ME...that does not mean that tomorrow, I wont change my mind if other better product comes from BMW.

I am seriously losing all respect for AutoSpies writers.

The articles produced by this website are abysmally written and designed to work like rag trash newspapers with screaming headlines.

No substance, little integrity, shoddy accuracy and just raunchy headlines. That is what AutoSpies has become in its downward spiral.

Umm, you realize that these are linked articles, and not written by the 'agents' themselves right? Just playing Captain Obvious here....excuse me if I'm being facetious.

this seems to be a common conclusion with the stickshift version of the car. Road & Track said the same thing when they tested a stick M5 against a stick CTS-V -- the M5 won all the performance metrics but they bemoaned the lack of thrill (yes it's the fastest but it's too quiet, too luxurious, etc.). Which is a shame, I guess, but doesn't really matter to me, since if I were getting an M5 I'd be getting the dual clutch anyway (and the reviews of that version have been much more positive -- Top Gear said it was the "best car ever made").

And let's be honest, it's not like the previous generation M5 was all that great as a stick either. Neither M5 was ever really designed to be a stick, they were always designed for the automated transmissions, which are the only transmissions offered to the entire rest of the world. But the U.S. keeps insisting we get a stick, so BMW builds one, the magazines bitch about it, and hardly anyone buys it anyway. If I were BMW I'd just say "forget it" and move on, if they're just going to get ripped for doing U.S. enthusiasts a favor then why bother.

Top Gear said it was the "best car ever made: I like it just as it is, However If I build one for the Purist, i would remove; Electronic trunk opening and closing system, No more Head Up Display, remove power soft closing electromechanics from all 4 doors, Remove power sunshade (rear window), remove the rear side retractable curtains, remove electromechanics, of active lane keeping assistance, remove proximity sensors for parking (a good driver, and I am good, does not need those), Remove radar controlled cruise control; leave the car with what is necessary only, It will lose 300 pounds and it will be untouchable, (is already the best in the class)...then sale the 2 versions of the car.. Sport , and Sport L with all the gadgets that you want to pack on it..No one will catch the new M5 for long time..Unless MB, Audi or Porsche does the same.
