Nissan Planning Stripped Down Version Of Leaf To Spurn Electric Car Sales
Nissan Motor Co., looking to bolster tumbling sales of its Leaf electric car, will roll out a budget variant next year in a bid for a more-affordable sticker.

The entry trim level would be positioned below the two higher-specification grades currently offered, two people familiar with the plan said.

The lower-cost variant will be added as part of a 2013 model face-lift. The 2013 Leaf will enter production in December in Smyrna, Tenn. It is expected to hit U.S. showrooms before March.

Ummm did you mean spur or is there something in the title I didn't understand?

Nissan dealers have killed Leaf sales.
The stripped down version will suffer the same fate.
Example;
Nissan Dealer West Palm Beach FL, new 2012 Leaf SL $38,270.00
Car Max White Marsh MD, new 2012 Leaf SL $29,994.00

Maybe if they spurred a better looking version of the Leaf it would sell, but I don't expect Nissan to let the obvious get in the way of their plans.
