BMW brand widens sales gap to VW's Audi in Sept

Despite the European crisis, BMW managed to reach a record month in sales in September.
BMW, Rolls-Royce and Mini delivered more than 177,716 units worldwide, compared with 159,223 units last year, up 11.6% compared with September 2011. The automaker also reported its best nine months with sales up 8.3% to 1,335,502 vehicles, compared with 1,232,619 units last year.

BMW’s sales increased 14.3% to 146,843 units, the BMW 1 Series selling 23,583 units, up 51.1%, the second generation BMW 1 Series 5-Door Hatch sold more than 150.000 vehicles, the BMW 3 Series’ sales were up 9.7% to 39,302 units and the BMW 5 Series increased 7.9% to 29,996 vehicles. The BMW 6 Series managed to more than triple sales reaching 2,426 vehicles, up 222.6%. Year-to-date BMW sold 1,109,962 vehicles, up 8.6%.

Germannut jumped the gun with his title. If you look at the numbers BMW sold more this month..widening the gap.

Car750i, that is correct. For the month of September BMW widened the gap over Audi, but for the year to date Audi has reduced the gap dramatically.

4.2% is not very dramatic...imagine if BMW threw a sub premium $17K A1 rival in their lineup! Then the change would be dramatic.

as in they only gained 3.6 not 4.2.
