Audi's Takes A Shot At The Lexus RX With "Be Yourself " Q5 Promo

Audi's Takes A Shot At The Lexus RX With
The German based automaker Audi has released a new promotional video with the Q5 crossover in the United States named “Be Yourself”.

The video posted below isn’t following the same path as other Audi promos and it’s starting with a body riding in the back seat of his mom’s Q5 who is noticing that everyone is driving the same SUV, the Lexus RX. Audi is telling us to be ourselves in this new commercial and if everybody else is choosing the Lexus RX, we should choose the more expensive Q5. I wonder if it works the other way around.

This ad is similar to one first seen in a press only presentation about a year ago.

LOL, that's a textbook "hater" commercial.

You know it wouldn't be so funny if I hadn't "followed" my wife in her RX to lunch after a baseball game on Saturday. It looked like she took a wrong turn and like a good husband I followed her for a bit then realized it was another RX450h with the exact same color and stickers in the window. Was like "what the?"

I agree that the RX is a dime-a-dozen SUV. But it's still one of the best-looking SUVs extant, not to mention having Lexus' quality. It would be very difficult for Lexus to ever improve on the current design for this segment. This goes for the interior as well, which, at first, I was not a fan of, but it is really elegant and simple in a functional way.

The new RDX is nice also, both inside and out.

It isn't bad looking, but our RX hasn't been the most stellar in quality issues. All small things but at least 5 unscheduled dealer visits in two years. The CC had 1 in the same time frame.

As far as reliability (repairs and breakdowns) Lexus 1, CC 0

Go figure

I just cant get over the fact that Audi's crossovers all look like elevated station wagons.

Agent009 don't waste your time trying to convince these people about LEXUS having quality issues. I've had my share of quality issues on my 2009 LS460 but the naysayers keep dreaming that LEXUS' are bullet proof. My previous car, a 2005 MB C230 with 115k had less issues! Like I have stated before, I do not buy the "reliability BS" all the LEXUS fans driving ESs and ISs claim.
As for the RX, it's a great vehicle but we have over 30 of them here at Plantation Estates at JCP in Jacksonville. My wife's actual words "I don't want the same vehicle everyone drives in this neighbourhood".

You could argue the same for many makes I own a 2010 Audi S4, and during the first 3 years, I had the following issues bad keychain remote, noisy climate control, driver's side window ($500), Rear sports differential seals leaking, transmission seals, differential seals ($1700), then the throttle body. I fortunately had an extended warranty, which has already paid more than $7000 in repairs. This car is not a lemon, and I like the car, but it just shows the terrible parts durability in volkswagen and audi cars. On a side note another issue I have with my car, and seem to be common among the new A4s, even the new 8 speeds are the transmissions are incredibly jerky in traffic or around town.

Well I will be the first to say ANY vehicle can have issues. But I am also willing to accept our RX may be the exception. But there are also quite a few "unreliable" cars out there that never have issues either.

The typical fanboy ignores the issues of his favorite and pounces on those of his foe. Kinda high school-ish

Phantom4 I do not disagree with you at all. My point is that ALL cars have issues and that using the "BS excuse" about purchasing a vehicle based solely on reliability is mute. Making statements such as ALL (whatever make) are ALL unreliable is absurd. All these auto manufacturers build cars all over the world using different suppliers which cause the issues. I've owned HONDAS (Accord and Civic), Toyota (Celica), VW (Passat), NISSAN (Pathfinder) and all had issues. We currently have 3 cars (all purchased new) LS460, TOUAREG V8 and a MINI Cooper. The LS460 is beating the other two on unscheduled trips to the shops (granted I purchased the MINI last year for my daughter and my wife's TOUAREG only has 39K eventhough we purchased it over 3 years ago).

What a dumb commercial, the Audi Q5 is probably the most boring suv in its segment.

The Lexus is NOT a good looking SUV. Are you kidding me? Its such a boring vehicle! One of the worst vehicles I have ever driven. Its floaty, boring and doesnt feel safe around corners. I would rather hang myself than drive this piece of crap. Sure, reliability may be good, but theres a reason people still drive range rovers even with the issues, its a nicer ride and sportier!
