RENDERED SPECULATION: BMW's Next-Gen M3/M4 COUPE Comes Into Focus
Though we've yet to hear a clear confirmation that BMW will be, in fact, shifting away from the M3 nomenclature for the coupe, outlets continue to fester over this idea of the M4.

I will believe it when I see it -- this has happened too many times before.

Hitting the web is an all-new rendering of the upcoming M3 coupe that features a peculiar take. Obviously it is derived from the 3-Series sedan; however, it's front valence is similar to the current-gen product and if I am not mistaken, the wheels are the same too.

While it's tough to be confident in any respect of this rendering's credibility, I do have to say one thing: It looks pretty damn good.

Am I alone here?

Moving away from the M3 badging, the coupe version of the popular M model will be sold under the M4 naming convention. The F82 M4 Coupe is based on the new 4 Series Coupe and it will differentiate itself from the 3 Series family through a sleeker front apron and slightly redesigned headlights. As seen in the rendering below, the coupe roofline gives the car a sleek look which will further differentiate it from the four-door sedan.

The front-end design is said to take its cues from the recently launched M6 with the 1M-like air curtains. The air vents are large in size with angled fins that give the car not only a road-focused look, but also a dominating stance. The M4 coupe will also get a hood bulge, for both aesthetic and aerodynamic reasons.

22" wheels are ridiculously heavy and are a detriment to handling and ride quality.

Photoshop door length is from a 4 door car. Poor rendering to be sure.

Recently, after months of speculations and contradictory reports, the saga of the next generation M3 and M4 engine came to an end. The M3 and M4 variants will be powered by an inline-six turbo unit that is likely to produce around 450 horsepower. The engine is expected to be mated to a dual-clutch transmission, but we won’t be surprised if a manual box will be offered for the U.S. customers. Some of the new features in the next M3 and M4 include an electronically controlled differential as found in the M5.
