SPY PHOTO: BMW 3-Series Cabrio Top Down

In October this year BMW will debut the convertible version of the recently launched 3-Series Coupe. It will be powered by the same engines as the coupe and equipped with a retractable steel roof which folds completely into the boot. The current convertible will continue to be built until the end of this year with an expected total of 270,000 units of this model will have been built and sold. The new 3-series convertible will hit the showrooms in March 2007.

Assuming a reasonable price, this will storm the US market - expect collapses in the sales of Audi, Saab and Volvo convertibles, and probably the CLK convertible too.

looks nice, very clever of them to have managed to squeeze a metal roof into that rear end, hopefully it will still have space for 4 real seats

Please BMW.de - preserve some trunk space in the new 3er with folding metal top.

I'd love to get a new 335CiC but it needs to have some usable trunk space when the top is down for two beach chairs and my beach bag.

I have 3 cars and only really use my M3 cab in the summer to goto the EastHampton beach with my spouse and son in the back. Having trunk room in the winter when the top is up is useless to me.

The lack of trunk space is a big negative to these retractable hardtops.

I don't want to have to get a CLK550 cab (which has great trunk space for a convertible. :-(

Please BMW - ensure it has some trunk space.

Sorry, really bad transmission experience on my previous 2000 A8, no more Audi's for me - its CLK or 3er, hopefully the 3er.

don't base your opinion on one event. if i did i would never buy another mercedes ever. i had an sl that simply didn't work. and the roof didn't work. etc.
you had a 2000 a8? so did i! well a 1999 one but same thing. what engine was it?
