Now that the BMW M5 and M6 are old news -- and having some trouble in some reviews -- it's time to turn our focus to a proper M car. While some folks would argue that the M5 and M6 are legends some would disagree.

But they're legendary trajectory seems to be fading much in the way in the same way Elvis' did. Old, fat and "lost it." Even kings can fall.

The next-gen BMW M3, on the other hand, seems to be the last pure M car. I say that because the next-gen product will return to a six-cylinder motor and it is suppose to be lighter than the outgoing product. If BMW can succeed in this endeavor, enthusiasts will rejoice around the world. Until then, we wait.

During this period some intriguing videos have seen the light of day. The latest and greatest shows the next-gen M3 at the Nurburgring getting a high-speed workout. While we've seen it on the 'Ring, we haven't heard it so clear, loud and, frankly, throaty.

The force is strong with this one, Spies.

BMW M enthusiasts will be waiting at least one year until they can see if BMW doesn't f*ck up the upcoming M3.

I think majority of M3 owners don't use the car to their full potential anyway, so it doesn't really matter if it has 333hp, 414hp, or 450hp... Driving fast on the streets does not even begin to qualify for full potential...

Yes, many performance cars do not get driven on the track, but they are performance cars above all else.
Its performance that sells these cars, and the only way to see which has the best performance is to test them on the track.
Do you think a Buggati needs 1000hp? NO, but it’s the potential for that performance that sells it.
The person who tries to rationalize these cars by how fast they go on the streets, is probably missing the point, and should just stick with a 335i or S5. People buy the M3 b/c they know it’s the best in its class, and they like knowing what it is capable of, and the quality of engineering. That’s what makes it appealing…and some do take them to the track.
