He Should Be Reading AutoSpies! Romney Mistakenly Believes ALL Jeep Production Is Moving To China
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney told a rally in northern Ohio on Thursday night that Chrysler was considering moving production of its Jeep vehicles to China, apparently reacting to incorrect reports circulating online.

"I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state Jeep — now owned by the Italians — is thinking of moving all production to China," Romney said at a rally in Defiance, Ohio, home to a General Motors powertrain plant. "I will fight for every good job in America. I'm going to fight to make sure trade is fair, and if it's fair America will win."

That this even made sense to him comes from the fact that he is either not really as astute a business man as many believe or that this is probably what he'd do. I read similar headlines and immediately said "no way, time to read in greater depth." How could a so-called "car guy" believe that Jeep could shift their entire production to China and not have it critically affect it's image?

and an even bigger story would've been jeep, chrysler, gm being sold for a fractions of a penny to China had Obama not stepped in when private capital was frozen.

So Romney refers to an article with some suspect information, and he gets ripped to shreds by lefties here. Ok, let's ignore the many more gaffes and outright lies told by both Obama and Biden over the last 4 years, including the entire Benghazi scandal.

It's a good thing Jesus saved GM so they could start importing Cadillacs in from China.

Atleast Jeep was purchased by another private enterprise, not some communist controlled front company but why would they buy when they can so easily just steal our stuff? Bush, Jesus, Twitt here, they all won't do anything about it. He may lable China a currency manipulator but it doesn't mean he has to do anything else. All of their buddies make too much profit from letting China devalue its money.

at least you know where Joe stands on an issue. Romney may have the most gelatinous spine of any politician in the past 30 years. GREAT attribute for someone that is supposed to stand up to China...like Donald Trump, who has his entire clothing line manufactured in China.

Ok, 009, I've bashed you a number of times for spewing the Fox News line on a number of stories, but I have to give you credit for calling out Romney on his irresponsible claim based on a right wing blog post. The problem here, as in many other cases when Mitt "misspeaks", is that neither he nor his campaign rarely ever takes it back. So he gets the misinformation out there to make political points and never corrects the record. Geez, I'll be glad when the election is over so we can get back to talking about cars . . I hope.

Lets see...This administration watches our embassy people being attacked and crying for help for seven hours does nothing to come to their aid then lies about the cause and events and you ask "what scandal?" Whatever happened to "leave no man behind" or "I've got your back." Every serviceman and servicewoman out there risking their lives for our freedom from terror has got to be questioning whether this president has their back. After hanging out his entire life with those on the far left who have little backbone for a fight (yes a fight when its called for!) the answer is NO!

how exactly did the administration "watch" our embassy being attacked? are you conflating the televised riots in Cairo with the Benghazi attack?

as for our servicemen questioning whether we've "got their back", what are you suggesting is done differently? what does it mean to "have their back" in REAL terms? because the phrase "got their back" sounds more like a platitude than anything tangible.

Did Obama "have their back" when he focused the military on killing OBL rather than playing grab-ass in Iraq? Or when he voted against military intervention in Iraq in the first place? I happen to think so.

Finally, as for the "far left" having no backbone for a fight, we need a whole lot more of this alleged group of people in the US. What we have an utter deficiency in these days are those invested in peace.

Where have you been...12 people in the White House watched real time view from two drones overhead during the seven hour attack. If it were your son in harms way and nothing were done you would be singing a different tune. "I got your back" means after I've sent you to perform noble work in a hazardous zone and something goes wrong I will be there with what ever it takes to back you up and try to get you back to safe ground again. I sent you there and I will protect you. What don't you understand.

i'm at once proud to say i'm a news junky, and ashamed to admit how much of my day i spend following current events. that said, i've read nothing about the real-time drones watching the attack. do you have a reputable source? i do my best to keep well informed, and usually when i haven't heard something, its found on a conspiracy website.

just the other day, my own mother asked me about Obama requiring border agents to only fire blanks or beanbags in their weapons. i thought to myself, "wow, thats pretty silly, lets look into it".

What i found upon further investigation was a neo-nazi website propagating this nonsense, and it had made it to my mother's ears via late night conservative talk radio she overheard a coworker listening to, in passing. i concede, my mother is a bit naive, but regardless, i've heard some really ridiculous stuff from folks with poor sources of information over the past 4 years.

with an election around the corner, does it make ANY sense that a sitting president would watch a terrorist attack for 7 hours like Beavis and Butthead in front of a Crowbar MTV video? absolutely not. but, i'll look into it for the sake of posterity.

PUGPROUD-You might be aware that it is a fluid situation over in Lybia.Would extra soldiers been able to prevent tha attack. That is debatable.Further no intellegence is perfect. You might be aware that president Bush and administration had either flawed intelligence or disregarded the intellegence leading up to 9/11/2001.Further he made the decision to go into Iraq when they never got clear proof of weapons of mass destruction.Obama has gotten us out of Iraq and plans to do the same with Afganistan in 2014.He killed Ben Laden. The drone strikes have allowed us not to have to put troops on the ground. We cannot financially afford to get into another armed conflict. Further since Mr. Romney has a history of continually changing his positions on most issues I cannot trust him to vote for him.Getting back to the subject at hand his remarks seem anti auto industry. Not pro auto industry. He was against the bailout then he changed tune to supporting a managed BK for both GM and Chrysler with the idea that the private sector would invest in those companies. You know as well as I there were no private sector banks, private equity firms(including Bain Capitol)etc. that were willing to invest in either auto company in 2008. Now MR. Romney accuses Chrysler of moving all Jeep production to China. You know in fact that Chrysler previously had a factory in China to serve the Chinese market only. This would merly be reopening it.Mr. Romney said one thing to try an woo the Tea party activists during the primary and is now saying the opposite now to try and woo moderates. That last debate performance from him was pitaful. He is a Camelion of the first order!

Reganeatbrains...Maybe you need to broaden your sources for the news...on your web searcher type "Benghazi attack drones" and you will find multiple references to the live viewing of the attack by the administration, which requests for help were denied (in documented emails and cables)plus what resources could have been deployed to help the people on the ground and were not. While you probably believe anything on Fox is exagerated (and may be it is) it is also true that the major media (NY Times, NBC, etc) overly protect the President and choose not to report damaging items of news. I suggest you cast a wider net for the news before making definitive statements.
