CAR WARS! A Luxury Drop-Top Showdown - Mercedes-Benz SL vs. Maserati Gran Cabrio
I was cruising with one of my best buddies recently when we stumbled across an all-new, 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. Sure it looks a bit...peculiar...but there's no question that the SL is the pinnacle for luxury convertibles. At least, in my opinion.

However, it wasn't until Maserati came around with its Gran Cabrio that things got interesting. With its howling V8 and elegant lines, it certainly brings out more personality than the German Benz and it does it with panache.

The SL, as my buddy would say, is simply a car for people who have ample dollars but don't want a driver's car.

While the BMW 6-Series and Porsche 911 usually are placed on the same level as the SL, I think they're more performance oriented while the Maserati is more closely aligned with the SL's characteristics.

So, what will it be ladies and gentleman? An SL or the Gran Cabrio?

If you prefer your car beautiful and exclusive then the Maser is the obvious choice. If you need usable rear seats the Maser is the choice.
If you want the best exhaust soundtrack the Maser is the choice.
Not sure why you would want the SL.
Its the first SL ever that that is not attractive or impressive compared to its predecessor.

If you prefer Reliability, SL ; If you prefer usability, the SL; if you prefer maximum performance and efficiency, SL is the choice; I do not get it, why should you choose a car that is on the shop everyday...

" But SL is kicking the butt of the 6 or M6 in every performance aspect...So IT DRIVES BETTER THAN ALL OTHERS, so what he is saying is subjective.
