WIN OR FAIL? Cadillac To Skip Over The Japanese And Raise Prices To Match German Competitors
Cadillac plans to raise prices of its future vehicles to match, roughly, their German rivals, part of a plan to win more credibility from luxury shoppers.

The CTS sedan, for example, is similar in size to the BMW 5 series, but the base 5 series is more than $8,000 more expensive than the base CTS. That price gap will narrow for the next-generation CTS and other Cadillac vehicles, says Don Butler, Cadillac's vice president of marketing. The redesigned CTS is scheduled for the 2014 model year.

if the market can support it, of course. any business would take advantage of pricing power when it can.

This is sad news unless Cadillac finally learns to rid its vehicles of plastic cladding and inserts where fog lamps reside. Lower Cadillac models don't have DRL's that are LED. Those are STANDARD on BMW, Audi, and Mercedes (whom they are chasing). This news is ANYTHING but positive in my opinion. On a side note, has anyone seen the MSRP on a loaded Escalade Platinum?! 80 something grand for an ancient interior and shared bits with a platform-mate thats about 40 grand less??? -_____- Yea, sorry for the Caddy rants but I love em to death and wish to see them back on top but I call it how I see it. Other than the ATS and CTS there is NOTHING that says "standard of the world" at Cadillac...

They could try and only time will tell if they can do it or not. But Lexus and Infiniti has up their exterior and interior design a lot and their new cars look very good. And it's now more fun and engaging to drive as well. The new Infiniti M56 is more fun to drive than the BMW 550i and beat it in a comparison test.

Good longterm plan but it appears Cadillac is gunning for another bailout in the near future.
