Breaking! Ford Announces 34% Drop In US Sales
This is what we love about FoMoCo. Not only do they serve us sales figures fairly straight up, they even provide fun little graphics for us to use...like the one to the right. That's correct, we didn't create that -- it came directly from Ford PR. Wasn't that nice of them? Unfortunately, the numbers aren't quite as good as FoMoCo's always-smiling PR folks -- car and truck sales were down 34% in July due to comparison with a tough number the Dearborn automaker had to beat because of them dang employee discounts. Luckily car sales weren't off all that much...only 7%, but truck sales...truck sales sucked, down 44%. More importantly, sales of the F-Series pickup, the company stud -- off 46%. But hey, at least they've got Taylor Hicks, right?

That is an awesome PR graph. That is a big downfall.

I am not sure if I like Jalopniks humor. It is not just this joke that bothers me, but every story they report has some stupid joke in it that has nothing to do with cars. I like Leftlanenews and Autoblog much better.

Oh yeah, Ford, forgot about them. So, do we know what brand was down, or have they not released that. It is probably Volvo and Jaguare.

This is all Ford's fault. They lived well when their mediocre large SUVs had minimal competition and gas was cheap. . . but they obviously didn't do any scenario planning - strategic errors are the fault of the senior executives and the board - or they'd have a more robust line-up of small cars and crossovers.
