Couple On Trial For Attempting To Sell GM Trade Secrets To Chinese

A former General Motors Co. engineer and her husband stole trade secrets of the automaker’s related to hybrid-car technology to help develop such vehicles in China, a U.S. prosecutor said at the beginning of their trial.

Shanshan Du, the ex-GM employee, copied the Detroit-based company’s private information on the motor control of hybrids and provided documents to her husband, Yu Qin, the government alleges. Qin used the confidential data to seek business ventures or employment with GM’s competitors, including the Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co., the U.S. said. General Motors contends the stolen trade secrets are worth more than $40 million, prosecutors said.

It's time to keep all these "foreign engineers" out of our industries. We have pleanty of talent, homegrown here in the US and educated at top universities. Why do we keep giving all these people all the good jobs while we have pleanty of young college graduates out of work.

@USNA1999,

I think part of the reason because the foreigners are willing to work for FREE or dirt cheap because most of them ONLY have a work visa and does not have Citizenship yet. But I might me WRONG.

I use to have a client that Only have a work visa where she work for a company that don't paid her at all and they Only give her food and that's it. She cannot get paid until she get her citizen or something to that extent.

We don't have enough talent. Not enough visas and citizenship for high tech and educated workers. The tech industry is moving to Canada because it is easier for immigrants to move their than America. They come here for education but cant get citizenship or a visa, so they go home or to other countries.

The Chinese are snooping around trying to seal the Coca Cola formula too, but it's not as news worthy as Obama shooting hoops.
