Acura RL sales continue to slide

Year to date -15.9. Better get the RDX and the MDX in quick.

The MDX will be all new in the near future, RDX is not on sale yet.

They might be at dealreships, but not for sale yet. The base price is a bit high, but I think it will sell.

I like Acura, the brand has always been quiet luxury and comfort...with virtually no emphasis on raw power.

The RL took the industry by surprise. The previous RL was $45k new and it was very nice. The newest RL w/SH-AWD is $60k with 1 or 2 options available. A $15k jump in price stunned quite a few potential buyers. And just like the Chrysler Pacifica, it's debut was basically screwed because it was release with too many options that made it too expensive for the people who wanted to have it first.

You need to keep it simple to even have a chance in the big luxury/sport market - V8+RWD - Honda engineers are brilliant - though, they need to understand the formula V8+RWD

I'm not sure it's a problem with just Acura. Look across the whole luxury landscape and I think most names are down YTD. Take out the new IS and ES for Lexus and their sales are blah. Infiniti, other than M, and same thing. Haven't looked at BMW, Audi, or MB, but with higher gas prices and higher financing it's not surprising luxury purchases are declining.

The RL is actually sold below dealer invoice in most parts of the country (avg price around $43.5K vs. the $49K list)...That's a steal for this rig...even with some of it's initial "teething pains" aka electrical issues...I'd jump on one right now and ditch the TSX if I knew the wife wouldn't flip out...

The first time I saw the RL, I knew that it was going to be a failure. 50K for a Honda Accord sized sedan with an Underperforming “300hp” V6?. Acura must have been fools to think that anyone with a brain would pay $50K for the thing. The market dictates the true value of the car and that value is $43.5k. I feel bad for the fools who spent $50K on the thing when it comes time to sell it. Talk about depreciation. I thought that cars depreciated after you drove the thing off the lot, not while the car is still sitting on the lot (unsold)? LOL! FWIW, if the Acura performed like a 300hp car, and handled better than a luxu barge, I would have purchased the thing (At $43k).

I agree with Spoonie. I was really excited about RL after I first read it here at Autospies. When the first car showed up at the dealer we went to try one. Wow, was I disappointed. It's just a better built Honda Accord with 4 wheel drive and NAV system. We were so disappointed with the new RL that we went across the street to take a look at Lexus. We end up buying a new Lexus LS430 for couple thousands more. We're very happy with our Lexus.
