Green Car Companies Ready For Next Round Of Handouts From Feds
President Barack Obama’s support for the 2009 auto industry bailout turned out to be critical to his successful re-election bid.

And with Obama re-elected, at least one segment of the industry is breathing a bit easier, as manufacturers of so-called “green” cars count on continued support in the form of federal subsidies and tax credits.

But it remains to be seen how far Obama will go in supporting green cars in his second term. The industry has been struggling for sales in a marketplace that still overwhelmingly supports traditional internal-combustion vehicles, despite volatile gas prices and big federal tax incentives for electric cars.

Let competitive market forces find its own levels of investment and success or failure. Its the most efficient method. The most government should do if anything is what its always done...fund research at the university level.

As a net exporter of fuel and with cars getting much better fuel economy, it is unlikely that gas is going to be the determinent of moving to electric autos. With everything from the grid on up that needs changing, it is hard to see where electric will thrive anytime soon.
Having said that, the category is of great importance for our future transport.

He'll probably force these companies to sell themselve to China to pay back his masters. He doesn't need to worry about re-election anymore and the American people are too stupid to even notice if he sold California or Texas.
