SPIED: Mercedes-Benz's Refreshed E-Class Coupe & Cab Caught Red Handed
We've been keeping close tabs on the updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class' new look. That's because we wanted to see exactly what Mercedes wanted to change.

Its one of Benz's best selling products, so, it's intriguing to see just how far the brand with the three-pointed star is going to push it.

Now, we're starting to see a bit more detail with its E-Class coupe and convertible. Though we've seen images of the coupe, this time is a bit more unique as it's the FIRST time we're seeing the cabriolet AND some of the new details are emerging.

Take, for example, the new one-piece headlights, the front valence with MUCH larger front air intakes, and the all-new wheels. There's a lot to see in these shots if you just look close enough.

At first I wasn't so sure about how this update E would take form, but from the subtle hints starting to emerge, I think this will elevate this vehicle to a new, classier level.

I would have given this a serious thought if this was an elegant hard top convertible in the vain of the Volvo C70 and Lexus SC 430 and not the awkward looking G37 and IS convertibles. The 3 series/M3 line still look like the forerunners in the executive hardtops.

The 3 series hardtop convertible is one of the most awkward looking convertibles out there (with the top up)...the strange cut lines in the roof, the bad integration in to the trunk, etc...

Well, HoustonMidtown I never said the 3-Series was the best-looking or elegant choice but definitely the pick of the bunch overall by a decent margin. Looks are not everything sometimes.

It's interesting that M-B is removing the Ponton look from the sedan model but seems to be keeping it on the coupe/convertibles. Meanwhile, I think the Ponton always looked fine on the sedan but makes the coupe/convertible look a little heavy over the rear wheels. Strange they would go through the effort on the sedan but not the coupe/convertible models.

I happen to like the Ponton fenders on the convertibles.

I wish they would have left the quad lights on the coupe/convertible. Actually, I wish they would have kept it on the sedan as well. It really gave them an upscale look that was missing from their respective counterparts from Audi and BMW.

I do think the non-ponton look on the sedan is better, and the ponton on the coupe/converible looks distinctive and it just flows better.
