Rumor Mill: Toyota's Upcoming Supra May Be A Tesla Inspired Electric
Passion is a word one hears a lot in conversations with Toyota executives these days, up to and including President Akio Toyoda, who points to recent introductions like the Scion FR-S and Lexus GS to underscore his intentions.

But it’s beginning to look like that’s just the beginning of Toyota’s performance aspirations, with new reports suggesting there could be at least a couple more performance machines on the Japanese giant’s horizons – notably in the form of all-new versions of the long-lamented Supra and MR-2 models.

Rumor. There's no point for Toyota not to capitalize on its Hybrid system and extend the knowledge to LEXUS line.

It is absolutely pointless to speculate. Toyota has broadcasted so many mixed messages about electric vehicles that any speculation may end up true.

It seems irrational though if Toyota is unwilling to make an electric iQ for them to make an electric Supra or MR2. It is of course possible that they use a drive train developed by Tesla, like on the limited new RAV4 EV, however in the context of a sports car that is all about the drive train it would hardly be qualified as Toyota and more like as a Tesla.

In any case call me when they have something out.

In the meantime the GT-86 is a superb car, go drive/buy one!
