Next-Gen Technology UNVEILED For All-New Mercedes-Benz S-Class - Does It Meet YOUR Expectations?
In the year 2012, some predicted at this time we'd have flying cars. Man, weren't they wrong.

There's no question that cars have become exponentially better -- in terms of quality -- in recent years and the technology making its way into autos is impressive. I mean, 10 years ago who would have thought we'd have autos that can act as wireless hotspots?

But if you really want to see what next-generation technology will soon be coming to every car near you, most industry analysts agree: Every generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been ahead of the curve.

The new Mercedes S-Class will be one of the most advanced passenger cars ever built. And Auto Express has had behind the scenes access to the safety and driver assistance technology that’s set to grace the new flagship saloon at the firm’s base in Sindelfingen, Germany.

Key to the new car's high-tech success is an interconnected set of 26 sensors spread around the car, which feed information about the car’s surroundings to three separate ECUs...

Technically, we do have flying cars - some ride on air suspension systems, while others float on a magnetically-controlled suspension.

Because new vehicles are being made larger & heavier, the idea of the mass-produced flying car may never happen. Until the use of metal decreases or changes to extensively light-weight metal or non-metal materials, vehicles would be too heavy to support a low-powered levitation system that is reliable enough for daily & long-term usage.

Also, the average engine & subsequent propulsion system would have to be light-weight, highly powerful, small in size, and a great deal more efficient than the typical ICE used today - think small, ultra-effient ecoboost or sterling type engines.

I think dreams of future tech has always been short-sighted. It takes time to develop something that will "withstand the test of time". It has been interesting seeing how far the personal computer has come since the 1970/1980's - which has been a relatively short period of time. The ICE has come a long way in its basic form, but that are many more efficient possibilities out there.

This S Class will dominate as all its predecessors have. Top End is where Mercedes Shines, and they leave the Eco Bangers/Volume classes like the A, B, and C class for Bimmer and Audi to fight over, but High End is what Benz does Best- S Class, GL, SL, CL, SLS, CLS, G.
