Ford burned as buyers shun trucks and SUVs
Domestic automakers have wretched July

Ford Motor Co. sold about half as many Louisville-built Explorer sport utility vehicles and F-Series trucks last month as it did a year earlier when big discounts sent sales soaring.

The automaker sold 15,851 Explorers built at the Louisville Assembly Plant on Fern Valley Road, down 51 percent from a year ago. Ford sold 68,982 F-Series pickups, including F-Series Super Duty trucks built at the Kentucky Truck Plant on Chamberlain Lane, down 46 percent.
