Good but why they did not split the sales to which cars are selling better ? Christmas is coming and I hope a big spike on sales the next 2 months for all the brands..

BMW stopped breaking out the models the next month after people pointed out the Mercedes C series outsold the 3-series. BMW said the 3-series was untouchable and they discovered it wasn't, so no need to advertise it further.

Sorry, I was just responding to what I read on this site and speculating as I do not have the time to cross every thing I read on this site. Forb that I am an idiot. But, thanks for the link, since the numbers were telling and reinforces my point. The 3-series is BMW's cash cow and yet it is up only 3.5% for the year, while C-Class is up 20% for year.

Impressive numbers but I bet BMW offered huge incentives to push that much volume.

The profit margin numbers will look like crap once again...

Really? BMW's profit numbers are extremely competitive, and yet BMW is an independent company, shows how little you know.

cleveland: it's not remarkable for a less expensive brand (lexus) to sell more volume. it is remarkable that a more expensive brand (BMW) can outsell the lesser brand all while making superior profit margins. please do share lexus profits with us.

BMW remains slightly behind Mercedes-Benz for 2012 YTD sales.

Once again it will come down to the final month of December to determine who is crowned 2013 U.S. luxury sales leader.

PQ40, FYI Audi's sales growth is stronger than BMW's both in the U.S. and globally. I know it hurts to see BMW's lead shrink every year.

It also hurts you to see BMW failing to move into a high-growth market segment of a very low-priced, luxury model.

Well when Audis sales in the US are so pathetic.. growth is not that hard.

I know the A1's 120K units a year echonomy car sales are eating into BMW's Luxury car sales..

GermanNutGermanNut - 12/3/2012 4:42:18 PM

Audi's sales in the U.S. will skyrocket next year when the A3 sedan and Q3 come out. Also, Audi has far fewer models for sale in the U.S. than BMW, another reason why Audi's sales are trailing BMW's in the U.S.

Yeah like BMW's 1-series and X1 are such "luxury" cars.

You know the Audi A1 is not even sold in the U.S.

Audi sees a market that BMW refuses to enter with the low-priced, luxury model and BMW will be screwed long-term because of it as it tries to defend its "premium" X1 and 1-series.

A1 starts $2K over a polo, and $2K under a mini cooper, BMW's mini will be priced, and equipped to be more premium than a Mini...so Yeah!

oh cleveland. clueless again. EVERY automaker must bring up its number of extremely fuel efficient models in order to meet the US CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standards. by 2016, everyone must be at 35mpg CAFE. so companies that sell purely luxury cars CAN'T EXIST. that's why bmw now calls itself a premium maker. you can make premium cars in all segments. does this help?

The A1 is more like a whole league of opportunity for Audi and a whole league of missed opportunity for BMW!

No when BMW and Mercedes make mini cars they will actually be premium. The A1 is a thinly worked over Polo, with Cloth and plactic everything. And in many comparison tests in europe, it is being exposed for its poor driving dynamics....Better luck next time Audi, the A1 wont have many repeat customers!

Keep dreaming, PQ40. Don't you just love how the 335i Sport interior is ripped apart in the MotorTrend comparison test for being so cheap and plasticky.

That doesn't leave much hope for your "premium" mini car from BMW.

Too bad a car is not a singular entity. It is a combination of factors including luxury, quality, performance, price, efficiency, etc.

When you look at the entire package, the BMW 3-series just didn't measure up to the Cadillac ATS.

As MT said:

"All three of us had the BMW in last place. While still an overall excellent car, there are just too many things lacking. Additionally, the more than $6000 premium over the other two makes no sense from behind the wheel.

If you could combine the engine and transmission from the 335i with the steering feel and chassis from the ATS and stuff it all into the C350's wonderful package, you would have the perfect sport sedan. Until then, choose Cadillac."

Too bad Audi dosent offer anything remotely close to a complete package. dated and bland styling, understeer, numb steering, poor brake feel, jerkey auto transmissions....Can you tell Im speaking from experience!

Right, that is why Audi's S4 crushed your beloved 3-series in the below Car and Driver article:

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2010-audi-s4-vs-2009-bmw-335i-comparison-test

Look at how Edmunds InsideLine refers to the Audi S4 as the "complete package" below as it defeats the BMW 335i yet again:

http://www.insideline.com/audi/s4/2010/comparison-test-2010-audi-s4-vs-2009-bmw-335i.html

"1st Place: 2010 Audi S4
No longer too small or too slow, this Audi S4 is a complete package that not even BMW can top.

2nd Place: 2009 BMW 335i
Times are good when a car like this gets 2nd place."

How about Road and Track? Look at how the Audi S4 once again defeated the BMW 335i in a comparison test:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/index.php/tests/comparison/four-door-firepower

"But as you can see in the final points tally, the S4 Quattro comes about as close to perfection as (a lot of) money can buy."
