If we could rank cars based on interiors alone, who would win?

Just for a minute, if we never got to see the car from the outside and could only judge the car based on the interior, which luxury manufacturer would win?

My vote is for:

Audi - 1st place

Mercedes-Benz - 2nd place

BMW - 3rd place

We all know Audi is the leader in this category, and I think we have rubbed the other marquees faces in the dirt a bit too much on this point.

Erm GermanNut, I think maybe you should give this a rest for now...

I don't think that this consistent baiting to inspire flame wars between marque fans is doing the reputation of Autospies anygood

Although I love BMW's, especially their exterior designs, I do not believe their interiors are worthy of such a high ranking.

I'd rather sit in a Lexus or Jaguar than in an Mercedes or BMW - so sorry but my minimum requirements include touch-screen navigation.

Yes, for German Brands:
1. Audi
2. MB
3. BMW

but include others makes and it looks completely different. Also have to take into account aesthetics, ease of use, quality of materials.

real brands like Lexus. Hahahahahahahaha

The day Lexus achieves parity with BMW, Mercedes and Audi in price will be the day I die.

The day Lexus learns how to build a high-performance division will be the day I take them seriously.

This guy is a little confused. He has an Audi, he is switching over to BMWs. He bashes Audi one day/loves it the next day, same thing with BMW basically. IMO, Audis do have very nice interiors. BMW not so much, the X3 interior had the same plastic as the Chevrolet Cobalt.

Oh dear.

Will using the logic of 'Well they sold more, so technically it must be better' to judge vehicle interiors.

By the way, the Mitsubishi EVO 9 has a better interior than the Audi A6 because the Mitsubishi is faster to 60.

the lexus ls has one heck of a boring interior. it is all the same colour, usually beige plastic. that's what puts me off them. see this pic :http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/carreviews/gallery/?model_id=429&category=Main%20interior
i think the last gen seven series had a better interior, the ls is a bit out of kilter now, but they are replacing it, which is good.

"Not to even mention the interior of the new CL-Class which was blatantly ripped from the 6-Series!"

umm.....have you ever been in one, ever? they are completely different! the cl is pulled from the s class!

the rx's interior, while nice, isn't special. i prefer the ml interior (i haven't seen a q7 inside)

Now that AutoSpies.com allow us to post out own articles we continue to get crap like this all the time. Some GermanNut guy or whomever is always trying to incite brand wars (usually German)...its really getting so old. Who cares which brand you personally think is better anyway. Let get on with the crap that matters. Most of us on this site of somewhat of a car enthusiats (sp?) or we would not waist our time here.

Don't get me wrong I love discussing cars, (AND IF YOU WANT MY OPINION IS VOTE FOR: AUDI AND ACURA),but why are trying to incite these "my preferred brand is better than yours" wars.

I like the interior layout of BMW compared to that of an Audi/MBenz. May not be as user-friendly, but BMW does not look AS boring as the others (imo). All could improve however.

i agree with those for germany only. if all are included:

1)Audi/Lexus (depends on the model)

3)Jaguar (new xk styling)

tell me if you agree or disagree

4)Mercedes Benz

5)Infiniti

6)BMW

7)Acura

so, for first place, it really comes down to the model.
heres what i'd pick.

is over a4
a6 over gs
ls460 and a8 tie (they are both unique in different ways)

gx over q7

"Just for a minute, if we never got to see the car from the outside and could only judge the car based on the interior, which luxury manufacturer would win?"

If we could vote for worst poster on the site, who would win? Lets look at the contenders:

GermanNut - Most posts by this troll only circulate around a few keywords: Audi, Interiors, BMW, Ward's Interior Awards

Iamevilhomer - This poster's main arsenal against the naysayers is the cliche "You cant polish a turd" argument. Needless to say, it is a turd of an arsenal.

PlanoA4 - When in trouble, this poster will pull the vomit-inducing "Real diamonds and Cubic Zirconia" analogy, which will kill your brain cells in a hurry if you try to make sense of it.

And the winner, by a mile, is.....GermanButt

Judging cosmetic design of an interior is based on personal opinions only. Kind of like of asking - who is more beautiful - Angelina Jolie, Pamela Anderson, Vida Guera, Jessica Simpson, Tyra Banks, Giselle Bundchen or Laetitia Casta?

Depending on the model, it changes from one make and model but right now...this is my list for the best interior.

Mid Size New A6
Compact New 3-Series
And it makes sense because they are all redesigned!

1. Lexus
2. Audi
3. Acura

Lexus would beat Audi by ergonomics. Audi uses just as much plastic as Lexus, the same can be said for wood and metal trim placement. MB has really fallen behind the past couple of years in terms of reliability and overal fit and finish. It seems that MB often tries to patch up inconveniences and problems with its technologies with even more technology. For example, when MB's side airbags debuted, they were in the doors, years after, when most manufacturers have realized that passengers may not always be in optimal positions during accidents and placed their side airbags within the seats, MB continued to build them into the doors and made its Pre-Safe system move the seat completely to adjust to the airbag. This is getting off topic but all in all, it seems MB usually comes up with innovative ideas but don't follow through with the research thus, MB now is suffering from the inconveniences and failures of many of its technologies and innovations that lack improvements.

Starfox: your posting is awesome. You forgot to add one more "character" to your list: Chewy. According to him, Audi is the only automobile on the planet worth driving and if you happen to have a different opinion, he runs off and grabs his Audi blanket before blasting you to shreds for not agreeing with him.
