Can Buick Steal The Thunder From The X1 And Q3 With The New Encore?
General Motors expects the new for 2013 Buick Encore small cross utility vehicle to draw new buyers to the auto maker with the same success as its trailblazing stablemate, the Verano compact luxury sedan.

“It is going to be a conquest vehicle, just like Verano,” Buick marketing chief Tony DiSalle tells WardsAuto during a media preview of the Encore, a pintsized CUV with a sculpted exterior design, luxurious interior and punchy 4-cyl. turbocharged engine.

The Encore arrives at U.S. dealers in the first quarter from its single-source assembly plant in Bupyeong, South Korea, with a base price of $24,950 and few direct competitors.

Not if they test drive the competition. X1 and Q3 will walk all over this poor thing. I doubt GM is trying to compete with Audi and BMW with this.

Buick won't make a dent.

On an unrelated note. I was just pricing out a Honda Accord Touring against a loaded AWD Santa Fe (non-turbo) and both came out to be the same price ($33K), both have comparable options except Santa Fe has panoramic and AWD.
How can anyone compete against predatory pricing like this? GM is headed for 5 more bankruptcies if we stay stupid and let the Koreans rape our auto industry. For the price of a sedan, the Koreans will give you an SUV.

Give the Encore a year. By then, it'll meet the axe. It looks like some kind of fat subcompact lol.
