Kia wants to become a premium brand and play with the big boys

How about a name change first. They can also do that to Hyundai.

Hyundai's rather IMMENSE Ego will NEVER allow that to happen.
Remember when Hyundai announced the introduction of the Genesis? When the Head of Marketing of HyundaiUSA suggested that they use a separate dealer network and name (e.g. Acura or Lexus) because the Hyundai name lacked "Panache"...THEY FIRED HIM! (Turns out..HE WAS RIGHT!)
KIA is Hyundai's ugly Step-Sister..(as far as Hyundai is concerned)
KIA can try to acheive "first-class" quality....but allowed to out-shine Hyundai? NEVER HAPPEN

Those of you who think the idea of Kia going "up market" is far-fetched.

Don't be so sure that this can never happen... With the right products and marketing, it definitely can.

Key word marketing. Marketing can only take you so far. Look at Hyundai, marketing grew them for a year or two, now they're fizzled because the recycled designs look old and ppl have become accustomed to the discount that they'll need to discount even more to get people's attention again.

Lying about your car's performance doesn't help the matter either.

I like how he didn't mention BMW, the car they obviously stole the K9 design from.

Nobody will pay premium prices for a cloned car.

Kia will always rhyme with CHEAPa.

Kia want to compete with the Big Boys? ha....ha...ha... Now why would I buy a Kia over a MB, BMW, Audi, Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, Bentley or Maserati?

If I had so much money to spend on car or cars in this class I would get a Bentley, Audi, MB, Lexus, Infiniti or a BMW instead of this rip off wanna be poser.

People who buy car or cars in this class are probably more educated so I think they're going get a BMW, MB, Audi, Bentley, Lexus, Infiniti or Acura instead.

So Kia is beneath Hyundai but want to become premium. They'd do much better creating a luxury brand out of all their RWD cars and leave the Azera as Hyundai's top line car to compete with the Avalon. And they certainly wont do it with that 5 series rip off in the pic above.
