STUD or DUD: Are The LEAKED Mercedes-Benz's E-Class Showing The Making Of A STUD or a DUD?
Thanks to an automotive forum, the refreshed Mercedes-Benz E-Class has stepped out from hiding.

No more camouflage, no more tricks, just a completely unveiled product. We have to say this was some mighty fine spy work. Though it wasn't so long ago that Mercedes-Benz teased the public with the new, lit LEDs of the E-Class, we can finally conclude that it now sports a pair of single headlights.

In addition, just about every line that use to exist on its body has been rounded off and given a soft shape. That's not a bad thing. I have to say, I think that this is a significant improvement over the pre-refreshed product. Note the all-new front valence, side skirts, "rear diffuser" and vehicle's lighting.

For the first time, we now have a clear look at the new E-Class and it's readily apparent that the Ponton fenders that were brought back from a vintage vehicle have been completely axed.

Taking all of these elements into consideration, we want to know:

Is the refreshed Mercedes-Benz E-Class a STUD or a DUD?

We are happy to present you the Mercedes-Benz E-Class facelift. The design team from Stuttgart is obviously moving away from the teutonic design of the pre-facelift model, which had many strong lines and four distinctive front lights, presenting a more organic version, with a “softer” front, with single piece front lights and a more curvy front bumper. In the rear, the tail lights are redesigned, with new graphics, as is the lower part of the rear bumper.

This styling looks like an Asian car with an MB grill on it. Rear end reminds me of a Camry. I miss the days of the stunningly beautiful E-Class with 4 round headlights, arguably one of the best looking sedans ever.

I have to say the old-school E-Class when it made its debut looked awesome and unique. However, that vehicle has not aged well, at all.

I can imagine this looking pretty damn good in 10 years time...

Leave the four headlights , this is an E Class , and this is the most important icon in this model , now is gone. I really don't know what happens with Mercedes lately , and I hope they don't eliminate complete the classic grill , because they are using more and more the sport grill in every model.

They could leave the four headlights with expensive and sofisticated led treatment and was fine.

I'll never forget meeting Adrian Van Hooydonk with 001 for the first time. One of the things 001 asked Adrian was the next big color trend.

His response?

Brown/bronzes/beiges would make a comeback.

THINK: Which NEW products debuted in brown?

- SLS AMG Roadster
- 6-Series Gran Coupe
- E-Class

...I am sure I am missing a couple...

00R: Bell-bottom pants made a come-back. Or so it was alleged, for a short time.

First, thank you for putting the photos in a slideshow format.

Second, not a dud. not a stud. Just middle of the road. It actually is more reminiscent of the previous generation 5-Series in that it appears to have Asian influences while retaining its Germanic roots. Will have to see in person, but based on pics, the rear is an improvement but the front fascia has lost its uniqueness.

If this is a forerunner of the S Class, I'm going to be looking elsewhere, for sure. Poof.

Like the front end but that was never a problem for me. Unfortunately the rear is still bland and ugly. Was also expecting better interior design to match BMW 6 series and Lexus GS.

Looks like the W220 S-Class.

boring.
I was behind a beautiful black early 90's E400 this morning and just admired how classy it was. Those days are gone. I owned almost every MB from 80's through 90's. Now I own my first BMW for the last 4 years. Not sure what happened to the "presence" their cars had or if I just changed.

Interior still looks like a 04 BMW 7er.
