Spied in America: 2008 Smart ForTwo

Leftlane News reader Gerhard Rivera snapped some great photos of the forthcoming 2008 Smart ForTwo in testing in the United States. Spotted at a gas station in the Colorado Rockies, the car is one of the first Smart prototypes we've heard of being on America. In late June, DaimlerChrysler announced it would bring the Smart brand to the United States in 2008. These photos confirm that the ForTwo will get a new headlight design to reflect the change at sister company Mercedes from dual-oval headlamps to sleeker one-piece lights.

Will it be sold in Chrysler or MB dealerships? That may make a difference.

Saw quite a few around Montreal the past weekend...MB needs to hurry up and bring them sooner than their quoted date of 2008.

this will be the solution to those who commute seldomly everyday to work. It makes total sense, since you only travel alone or with an occupant (for those who carpool). It is also uber fuel efficient, I believe it uses even less fuel than Prius. It can also solve city/highway congestions since is soo small is like a motorbike. great for parking also.

This would be a great option as a third vehicle to drive to work etc and save the SUVs and etc for weekends and soccor practices

Saw a yellowish green one in Topeka, Kansas with local tags a few months ago. Also know someone who spotted one in KC.
