The Worst Of 2012: What Will It Take To Save These Models From The Scrap Heap?
While auto sales are up 14% so far for 2012, not everyone is celebrating. Some high-profile models from big-name manufacturers -- Honda, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz -- have taken a dive, while more specialized concepts have found themselves appealing to an ever-smaller coterie of buyers.

Failure has consequences. Some of the cars on this list are headed for the scrap heap, and one is already there. But with the help of Edmunds.com's capable statisticians, I have tried to eliminate the most obvious fatalities.

BMW seems to enjoy creating models that no one asked for nor wants.

The upcoming 3-series GT will also be a sales disaster.

Creating extremely poor selling models for the sake of filling niches that in BMW's mind exist - but in reality don't exist - is a terrible strategy.

The thing they all seemed to have in common was they were down right UGLY looking, except the Porsche (too much $$). A couple of years ago, I remember blogging about the Acura's ZDX (Honda's kissing cousin version). I have to laugh at the fools who bought this terrible looking thing. Can you say "BIG depreciation" loss on this bird beak thing. Talk about your poor investment; what person wants to turn around and then buy this "very attractive vehicle". It doesn't matter what segment you buy (e.g. sports car, van, truck, commuter car), it doesn't have to be UGLY. And yet just a few months ago Honda told us all they were STAYING with the bird beak look. What strategy is this??

I have a BMW 5GT 550i and its a great car to own...7 series chassis and size, higher than sedan, lower than SUV for easy of entry exit, 7 series interior, all the 7 series benefits at a 5 series price !!!! May not be to everyone's looks but great quality, size, handsome interior, large back seat, super utility, 4WD. Love it !

I don't thing the car is a bad design at all, was created with target a selective group of executives that's enjoy comfort and high sitting position , it's also have a great and comfortable rear door, high luxury and also include the 7 series amenities so is fine, great. This is an other option to select . Different colors for different taste. The real prove is that I see a lots Nissan cube on the street , and others ugly Koreans models on the street , people choose probably for a low prices or why not for theirs designs.....lol..

The other sign of BMW haters , talk and talk bad about the car but at the end they just waiting to copy and paste design and angles from it...... Did you see the new big Kia , ha ha ha , is better recognize when someone have brain , talent ,team , history ,and money power to create and modified the car industry in every way , like BMW and MB.
This is painfull for some and great for others like me. I love BMW and MB they are leader in everything.
