I highly doubt this would happen. People need a means of transportation to get to and from their job. If this were really were to happen it would have happened when the gas prices went from 1.25 to close to $4.00. We have seen the number of car sales in US increase almost every year.

People will get smaller/cheaper cars if the fiscal cliff arises.

Don't know about that. They getting their panties in a wad when gas cost them $20 more a tank full just a short time ago. This could amount to far more than that on avg.

Right... 26% of Americans are going to go out and sell their cars. I don't see that happening.

Let me see if I have this right...both parties created a fiscal cliff so terrifying so as to force them to compromise, and then they don't which in turn puts multiple tax burdens on us taxpayers who in turn curtail spending to pay the taxes thus driving the economy into another recession. Tell me again why creating the fiscal cliff was a good idea ? Also why did we elect these people to Congress and the Senate, shame on us...shame on them. We are screwed !!!!!
