Audi R8 on the Nürburgring

RS4 engine? thats weak... it should start with at least, at least the S8 V-10...

That would compete with the Gallardo. The 425 hp RS4 engine will do just fine.

Bump gallardo up... besides, this would compete with 911 S, and Porsche doesnt want that...

Not as a first choice... not for 100K, even though I love the VW family...

for 100K:

1. 911 family
2. M6
3. R8

If I had 100k to spend on a sports car, I would.

For 100K i'd rather look towards a 650Ci/SL500/911 but this doesn't look that bad. All great cars but personal preference in styling.

the 4.2 rs4 motor will be about 70-80k

the v10 will be 120ish

It will be more that 70-80. The RS4 sells for 73k. The S6 will sell for about 75k, the S8 for about 95k. I think that starting price of about 85k is "perfect". However, around 100k is what has been mentioned in all reports.

That is a hot car. if they can put 500 horses in there, that would be cool.

Remember that the R8 will be all Aluminum.
It will first have the RS4 engine (may be bumped to 450hp) and then the V10 when Lambo upgrades the HP on the Gallardo.
If the RS4 does 0-60 in 4.3 sec with a weight of 3,800lbs, just thing what the R8 will do with a weight just over 3,000 lbs!
It will kill the 911, Sl500 and even the M6 (yes razzy, the M6 will be killed by that car) which weighs close to 4,000 lbs!!
The R8 will most likely be built in very, very small numbers each year and will most likely be fully loaded for the U.S market.
The R8 with the V8 will be $100k.
It will have DSG, Magnatic Ride and other goodies.

alex---i dont care how much faster this r8 vs. other sports cars, look at it. it looks like a copy of a lambo and tr getting in and out of it. Can you drive that thing everyday? (can you drive a lambo everyday? Should you?)
Conversely, the BMW M6 IS AN EVERYDAY beast and a killer with just (slight) mods.
I bet you i can get really nice mods on an M6 for that extra 10K the R8 will charge. ha.

That's the thing, the R8 is designed to be driven everyday and in all weather as it will have Quattro (40/60 rear biased).
Most people won't but it will be designed for that.
The M6 is an incredible machine, but people looking at the R8 won't be looking at the M6.
It will be 911 Turbo, Lambo, maserati and Ferrari.

I will not kill the 911... its out there to compete with other cars now...

Porsche will not cannibalize sales of its 911 with the R8... The new target will be MB SLs, BMW 6ers, Aston Martin Vantage V8...

It will not kill the 911, but a few people looking at the 911 will be looking at the R8.
it won't cannibalize the 911 sales mainly due to the fact that less that 800 R8 per year will be imported a year.

its funny you guys are talking about who will kill who here. i saw a short video on google videos where there was a 550 maranello, a 911 twin-turbo and an M5. The first two cars accelerated a bit quicker to say 70mph but after that even the ferrari had to move over to the right as the mighty M5 passed both the porsche first and ferrari second. my jaw was on the floor. the funny thing is that its not the first time i heard it, but the first time i saw it. (cause i couldnt believe that an M5 could top the porsche 911 turbo. but certainly not 0-60. more like after 100mph.)

Straight line is one thing, but track is another.
I love the "M" models from BMW, oh yes, but a Turbo at the track would do some damage.

i totally agree and for that reason SMG was developed (for track) that is why some M5 owners are complaining the SMG is a bit rough around the edges. Because its meant to be driven hard on the track. Joey Hand himself tested the M5 on the BMW TEAM PTG race track in Virginia and said "this car performs much better than some super sports cars that he's tested there.

One of these will be added to the garage next. My preference is the order below.

1-LF-A.....first choice if price is below 125k
2-GT-R....or
2-Next Supra V8

The M models are always between the S and the RS / give me the RS4 over the M3 and give me the RS6 last model over the old M5. Enjoy your year without an RS6.

The R8 is not a lambo copy or if it is AUDI OWNES LAMBO. Audi has said the car is designed to compete with the 911. The M5 is a diffrent type of car.

Now you are going to tell me how you like some Bike better then the R8? THEY ARE DIFFRENT :)

And how can you comment on the looks when the car is covered in all that plastic and fake fenders and lights? Mid engine baby :)

I personally love the look of the old one better than the new one, but the engine of the new one! :)
The interior of the R8 will be nothing like Audi has done before; it will be of the highest material (as usual) but very race car like. I guess we will have to wait next month for the Paris Auto Show.
In all, this car will definitely put Audi on the map, especially in the U.S.
This car will be just phenomenal.
My dealer already has 7 deposits on them!!

I don't think it will that hard to get in and out of the R8. It has conventional doors. I think the R8 will be designed with evey day driving in mind.

IS3andMe - the rims are a version of the RS4 rim/ We just sold our first A8 with that rim 20" and it looks great. If fact we changed all our unsold orders to that rim

yes and hartman has a set like this if you don't want to spend a lot

these wheels will also be on the S-Line Q7
I hope Audi puts these on the S6 so i don't have to buy wheels
