AWESOME or AWFUL: Convertibles With RED Tops - STUD or DUD?
If you haven't realized by now, one thing we love talking about at AutoSpies.com is the way people specify their cars. Now, more than ever, people are thinking outside of the box, doing special orders and are asking automakers to do things that make their vehicles stand out more.

In recent years, one of the cooler things I've seen customers do is order their vehicles with different colored tops. Though I have yet to see a custom color, a lot of the automakers offer a slew of colors that just don't get checked when buyers order the car. Most of the time you'll see the standard black ragtop but every now and then you'll see tan, dark blue and, if you're lucky, RED. If you're not so lucky and you stumble across a car from the 1970s or early 1990s you'll see white, which is most likely BROWN.

But that's the thing, you see. Every soft top I have seen where the owner has gone on a limb and ordered it in red, I have liked. Even that special, limited edition VW Beetle known as the "Dark Flint," I really liked with that red top.

A color combination can go a long way in a car. It's kind of like a set of wheel and tires. It can totally change one's perspective on a vehicle.

But we want to know what YOU think:

Are convertibles with red tops STUDS or DUDS in your book?

That MB has a cool top marred by hideous sheetmetal

I actually love the way the E-Class Convertible looks, particularly with the matte finish that accentuate the Ponton fenders.

Red top only looks good on a triple red car...red car, red interior and red top.

Silver with red top is the perfect color combo. Looks great on the new Boxster.

Cloth tops are duds no matter what the color. Visible protruding support beams? C'mon... Any exterior component that is made out of cloth isn't something that I would desire. What is this? 1950? Clothtop? LOL!!!

I prefer cloth over metal roofs.

But I am sure 001 would disagree with me on that...

To each their own, sir.

Auto Spies is just jealous. Any high end German car in silver looks wunderbar with a red rag top.
