DETROIT AUTO SHOW: FACE OFF - All-New Infiniti's Q50 vs. Lexus' IS F Sport, WHO Gets YOUR Vote?
We're still a day away from the start of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show but things are heating up as leaks happen, cars are revealed and the parties get under way. In the first series of events, two rivals have come out from under the sheets, the Infiniti Q50 and Lexus IS.

When Lexus introduced the second-generation IS350, it came around and stuck it to the then benchmark BMW 3-Series. When Infiniti trotted out the G37, it too whacked BMW over the head. So, it's pretty clear that both makes can produce top-notch products but obviously we haven't been behind the wheel or seen either in the flesh yet.

We can only judge by what's on the 'net right this second.

That said, we want to know: WHICH car do YOU like better -- based on looks alone -- when comparing the all-new Infiniti Q50 and 2014 Lexus IS F Sport?

Lexus IS 350 F Sport, and make a 2D MT convertible with PRHT.

The computer rendering doesn't do Q50 a favor, but I consider it more interesting than 3 and better resolved than IS.

One thing though, judging from the height of hood, there'll be at least an FI I4 model, and I wonder if you can fit a V6 in there without lowering its mounting height. In either case, it'll help driving dynamics a lot and let's hope so.

Lexus IS is the most aggressive and sharp looking car in it's class. It is like a new flavor, not all will like it but it sure seems very intresting.

I agree. We have to wait for real photos of the Q50. We're also comparing it to the F sport

...The more I keep staring at the IS350F Sport pictured above the meaner it looks. It's really in the details...There is a method to this madness and that is the IS350 was designed to grow on it's on lookers. So, the bottom line here is: The IS350F Sport is flat out WICKED LOOKING inside and out!!!! The infiniti still looks like the porky pig of luxury performance cars. Infiniti has got to get rid of the porky pig look, it should'nt be with this class of automobile. The IS350 is the Winner on looks alone one this one. However, the Q50 is a Wicked performer in strait line performance though. Remember, it's much easier for a car manufacturer to make horsepower and strait line performance than it is to produce top notch detailed quality and refinement. Of course, Lexus is on it's way at a very fast pace to achieving both. You can take that to the bank! Guaranteed!

the more you look at it, the more incoherent the design. so much looks like an afterthought...or just not thought about. the tacky nike swooshes in LED, the droopy rear taillights, the bulbous/sassy rear end, the overwrought grill, etc. etc.

...Think of it as -JUGNU so perfectly put it, and I might add: It's like a New Distinct Flavor! The IS350F Sport is a serious WINNER!!!!

Yikes....they are both pretty gaudy. Why are they 'hyundai'ing' it up with the over styling? In three years they are going to look ridiculous.

Easy, the Infiniti G37 sedan or Q50 as they will be calling it.

Exterio: toss up
Interior: Lexus (The Infiniti looks like a Mazda / Cadillac / BMW /
Lincoln mash-up
Winner: Lexus GS (F-Sport)
Now selling: 2006 Porsche Carrera

Interesting ideas and even more interesting moves.

Good luck with your GS F Sport -- I think it's a brilliant car only to be compared with the A6.

I like the Infiniti interior better but that's because it looks more Lexus than the IS-F's.

Outside, they're about equal.

Definitely the G37/Q50. The only nice thing about the IS is the spindle grill.

I'd take the Lexus. I'd take either over the Germans if the performance was there.

Yes, I'm ready for your deboosts...

2006 Infiniti G35 6 MT
2014 Infiniti Q50
2014 Lexus... in that order.

Still love the design of the original "G".

Infiniti is in a lower class than a Lexus for quality. I'll take a Lexus any day. The 306 hp will have plenty of performance.

If I HAD to buy one, with my own money, I'd pass on both; neither is a beauty queen. If I HAD to pick, for the sake of argument, I'd go with the nissan; it's the lesser of two evils here.

The toyota is simply ridiculous. So much so that I laughed the first few times I saw it. Ive seen some ugly cars, cars with not a single good-looking angle, and the toyota is definitely one of them. It and the gs before it are easily, hands-down, THE most hideous new cars in years. Congratulations, toyota!

THEY BOTH ARE GOOD LOOKING CARS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT...BUT I LIKE THE INTERIOR OF THE Q50 BETTER, ITS MORE FLUID. THE LEXUS INTERIOR LOOKS SO MECHANICAL TO ME.
