Presenting the 2007 Acura TL Type S
The 2007 Acura TL will get a Type S option. Type S includes a bigger engine, 3.5-liter with 286 horsepower and 256 lb-ft. This is an improvement of 28 p and 23 lb-ft over the 3.2-liter engine on the regular TL. The Type S should start at about 39,000 dollars. This makes the TL Type S a more interesting car. What do you think of the TL Type S, can it compete well with the competition with the bigger engine? The sportier styled TL A-Spec is shown, the Type S should look similarly.

Im sure the TL Type S will be a great car...however it doesnt seem as though Acura does well with expensive cars.

$40,000 is too much for a TL (add Nav and you have $42,000)

The RL should of cost this much from the get go. I also heard the MDX is going to be significantly more expensive now that the RDX costs $38,000 fully loaded.

Plus, arent those front tires going to be a little overworked.

Without a rear or all wheel drive, this is not a sporting sedan. Acura/Honda have stuck with a front drive chassis which is fine for an economy car like a Civic but it just does not work for larger/more powerful and heavier sedans or cars with sporting aspirations.

we get this in the uk but with a honda badge, and the biggest engine is a 2.4. with 187 bhp. in fact that's the biggest engine honda offers out of all of its cars. and yet, it costs 36000 dollars.

An Acura TL is not an Accord, the Acura TSX is a European Accord which has a wagon version in Europe.

The biggest problem...
That's too much power for a FWD CAR!!
It already has a lot of Torque steer on the current TL.

Yeah, the TL and Accord are on the same platform, so? All manufacturer's are doing that these days (platform sharing). And apparently most of you have not driven the TL because it holds it's own quite well for a front driver. Also, the so-called torque steer is really the LSD operating and mainly on the 6 speed manual. Other than that Honda/Acura is quite well known for having the least amount of torque steer in their front drivers. That will all go away for Acura anyway, as they move to AWD, especially in the model change for the TL in 08.

As for this new 07 TL Type S, they picked the worst wheels and paint color ever to show. It looks... not good. Plus, if $39k is the max with Nav it may sell, but anything over $40k and Acura will not be moving these things even though the TL is a pretty standout car in its segment. We'll see.

Why get a FWD w/ 286 hp? When I corner it, the front tires fight so much at the mid corner it keeps squeaking though it has good initial turn-in.

40,000? You got to be kidding me. I can get a Infiniti M w/ bigger sapce, same hp, RWD, and corner much faster and easier.

Honda can make a good car. But when are thy are going to stop putting FWD at Acura lines?
Somebody wake Honda up!
