Is the new BMW 3-Series coupe a 'Chick Car'?

Is the new BMW 3-Series coupe a 'Chick Car'?
One of my initial impressions when I first saw the new 3-series coupe in person yesterday, was that it looked more feminine to me, than the previous car.

Do you agree?

And if you do, dare we say it has become a 'Chick Car'?

BMW 335i is a handsome car...does that answer your question.

If a chick want to drive it, that's fine with me, but the car is all muscle. Relax jealous Lexus lovers.

Cartrash,

A lot of people think the Boxster is a chick car and it would wipe the new 3-series off the road.

Food for thought...

It most definately is more elegant in this new iteration than the previous model. Maybe it will attract a more female buyer than previous versions, but to me if the car handles and drives well, I could care less. I did wish however that the car looked a bit more sporty. Maybe they will offer an M-Package to make it appear a bit more sporting.

Not a Chick Car...aren't most BMs driven by men anyway?

the 3 series was a bit of a girls car last gen (in uk where 318 and 320 cabriolets seem to be everywhere), but this doesn't look that feminine.
cartrash, 3 cars for you. clk, slk, boxster.
girls cars through and through.

I remember when the A4 cabriolet came out my boss was looking at getting one, in all the pictures in the brochure the car was being driven by a woman ---- he bought the 4-door instead.

Look at 001, trying to spark up more debate and hatred among posters. Isn't the new 335 quicker than a boxster anyways? Either way I think the coupe looks great, although they (at least the e46) did seem to have more female drivers. I'm guessing the majority of 328i will be sold to females, while males will purchase the 335i.

The "softer" and more elegant a car looks, the more likely a woman will want to drive it. Look at the Mini Cooper, that car was made to drive to the limit by a man, but most purchasers are women who take it to the mall. The Miata is another car that is the perfect track car for a man, but women love it because it's "cute".

Does a car become a "chick" car just because over 50% of the drivers of that car are women? So if suddenly 9 out of 10 Viper owners were women, would that make the Viper a chick car?

Maybe we should take a poll of sororities: the top 5 most popular cars driven by sorority girls are officially "chick cars"

i'll take your comment with just a pinch of irony, d3wade, as there are at least 3 examples of bimmer girlyness. the z3, x3 and the 3 series compact.
and of course the 3 series convertible with the 318 or 320 or 323.

the gentle curviness of the headlights, rounded de-bangleized butt and de-flamed surface remind me of the last generation Acura CL. Not a pretty thought.

Definitely a "CHICK" car, here in Los Angeles, thats all you pretty much see. girls in 330i coupes, thats their main car. but i dont know this car looks a little bit too aggressive to be a chick car.but im sure it will be a hit with the ladies. !

Just because some girl will drive them doesn't make it a chick car.

I saw an old lady in a Corvette. Does that mean the Corvette is an old lady's car?

Geez...why am I wasting my time even replying to this...

I don't necessarily think this is a "chick" car. I do see a lot of women drive it. Interestingly, I see a lot of 3-series in West Hollywood. Just something I noticed.

Someone else please explain that comment if I'm not around to do it... :)

The 4door 3series is a definite "chick car."

I concur with six50i...In Houston, most of the ladies drive the 3series sedan while the guys drive the 7series. Back in my hometown of Atlanta, it was thought of as "girly" for a guy to get caught driving a baby bimmer (3series).

The BMW 330i is definitely is chick for sure now, I see a lot of chick drive those nowday. The new 3 serie look very soft and chick like to me compare to the old.

As far as Lexus goes SC/RX is definitely a chick ride but the GS 300/430/450H and the IS350 is definitely a Manly man car. Compare both the new 330i and IS350 the Lexus way more sporty and aggressive.

Not sure what going on at the BMW manufactured company but their lastest design for the new 330i and M3 look very soft. One might says it the new 330i and M3 look like a chick car instead of a real man car. The last generation of the 330i and M3 look way more aggressive. Even the new Audi RS4 look way more aggressive than the new 2007 M3; at from the photo that I see floating around.

In the BMW lineup if you drive the 6 or 7 serie than it a man car but you drive a 3 serie you driving a chick bro!;. Sorry that the new trend now down here in Hungtington beach and Newport Beach California. I see more chick driving those 3 series more than the guy. Hey!..it alright it still a Bimmer....right LOL:)

Lexus

ah..ha.ha.ha.ha.

p.s, In fact my girlfriend drove one, but when we go out, I pick her up with my manly man Lexus IS350 or the GS430. Want a real man car goe the Lexus IS350, Acura TL or Audi A4. Now those car look way more manly than the new 3 series for sure...

I agree with Lexus you'd be better off with a lexus like my 05 LS 430 now thats a mans car dont get me wrong I love the 7 series and the new 3 has a similiar rear tail light think of the 3 as a chicks 7

I would say that it isn't a "chick" car. Reading the previous marketing material from Munich it stated that the target market for the 335i is males aged 45. For the 328, it was evenly split across both sexes. This is probably based on current sales of the e46 coupe.

if you mean "couldn't", that's a bit sexist....especially considering the amount of women i see in maseratis.
you've gone from "how refeshing" to "maniac" in 7 comments IMO.

Being a chick car has nothing to do with performance or power. It is merely based upon looks. Or at least that's what the originator meant. He never said he drove it.

It is hard for a guy to find a ride these days that you dont see a chick in. In the area of Florida I live, chicks drive all the sweet rides. Long live the chicks! The scenery is first class.
