Who Will The Toyota And BMW Partnership Help The Most?
Toyota Motor Corp. and BMW Group are working together on next-generation batteries for green vehicles called "lithium-air" as their collaboration, first announced in late 2011, moves ahead in fuel cells, sports vehicles and other fields.

But both sides said today the partnership will not involve a capital alliance while spanning a wide range of technologies for green vehicles.

The Japanese and German automakers aim to complete a fuel-cell vehicle system by 2020, and a concept for a mid-size sports vehicle by the end of this year. They will also work together on developing lightweight technologies such as composites, which will help make cars greener.

...Yep both because I think each knows they are two of the top Automakers that are the real envy compared to all others, with the exception of reliability in which ultimately affects quality and refinement. Toyota is superior there. Also, those new comers, non-loyalist and Independents who want so bad for the under dog to somehow come out on top, someday. I say to you: Good Luck!

BMW is smaller than Toyota ...therefore they will get the biggest benefit.

Dude, What you dont even know that Honda excutives have already expressed that Toyota is like their Mentor and pretty much try to do as much as they can to be competitive and do what Toyota does however, on a much smaller level. No put down to Honda whatsoever but, Toyota is the real giant my friend. Every body has to have someone to look up to. So maybe as you say they are not envious, but you can bet they have a great admiration and an upmost respect for the Toyota Motor Corp. Compare from the bottom to the top and see where it will lead you?

Both customer bases are different. It would be comparable to Hugo Boss (BMW) forming a partnership with the Men's Warehouse (Toyota).

BMW will gain most from this partnership. Unless Toyota is able to do what Chrysler did with the E-Class chassis, BMW will probably sell more units worldwide as well as attain a higher profit margin per vehicle due to BMW's logo being on the car.
