RENDERED SPECULATION: BMW's M4 Coupe Gets Brought To Life And Confuses Almost Everyone
Making noise at this year's Detroit Auto Show was the BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept. Had BMW been able to keep the lid on the images a bit longer than early December, maybe then it would have had a more substantial impact on the show.

While I was exceedingly critical of the all-new vehicle's look — and I still am — a thought crossed my mind. How would the all-new M4 look?

While there have been some incredibly talented artists taking swipes at how it could look, the other day I came across something so remarkable, it nearly made my face fall off. That would be the M4 Coupe Concept render you see in our images below.

While the image is clearly based on the 4-Series Coupe Concept that debuted in Detroit, the talented artist behind this scheme went as far as to change the text on the wall behind the car. Props to the artist. They even had me fooled for a good 30 seconds before I noticed the Detroit stand.

Aside from that though, we're curious:

If the BMW M4 turns out like this render, would you be pleasantly surprised or miserably disappointed?

This is going to be an awesome car. BTW Where is the village idiot (japanengineering)? I bet he is going to say it competes with a Hyundai. LoL!

@japan

It was a press fleet vehicle. Not mine.

OMG! That looks sexy as fark! I would love it tenderly. Mineral Gray metallic with red leather please. High gloss carbon fiber interior trim and a 6 speed manual. I would leave my girlfriend for that car.

While border-line over done, it is nice.

@irishmike

I think it's safe to say that the current M3 and next-gen M4 will both be close to "overdone" or overdone, for that matter.

The latest spy shots show a front valence nearly identical to this render, plus the hood bulge.

It will be interesting to see how BMW integrates the side vent element, which I would guess will be there as it has been seen on the 4-Series Coupe Concept plus the next-gen X5.

Hot! Very nice render. Black metallic with brown (tobacco) leather.

I just hope they don't put those braided cowhide seats in there. At least offer a nice smooth leather seat package beside those braids. Otherwise it should be a winner.

There won't be any braided seats, that was a BMW Individual interior specifically for the concept car. As far as that rendering goes its probably pretty close. Big wheels, flared fenders, and a lower valence similar to the M6.

That's how you make LEDs stand out, no mistaking this for some POS Korean car or Walmart edition Audi.

cohesive, elegant design. looks aggressive yet not overwrought like so many new cars (CLS, new IS, etc)

since BMW divided the coup and sedan. Will this 4 series cost more than a 3 series? I'm assuming it is. BTW, the rendering is pretty nice.

Yes, it seems like that fad was short lived. As soon as the Koreans copied, it was dropped from many design studios.
